ރައީސުލްޖުމްހޫރިއްޔާ ޑރ. މުޙައްމަދު މުޢިއްޒު ވިދާޅުވެފައިވަނީ،  ތ. ހިރިލަންދޫގައި ޤާއިމުކުރުމަށް ހަމަޖެހިފައިވާ ކޯލްޑް ސްޓޯރޭޖްގެ މަސައްކަތް އަންނަ އަހަރުގެ ޖަނަވަރީ މަހު ފެށޭނެ ކަމަށް ވިދާޅުވެއްޖެއެވެ.

އެމަނިކުފާނު މިފަދައިން ވިދާޅުވެފައިވަނީ، ކޮޅުމަޑުލުގެ މީހުން ދިރިއުޅޭ ރަށްތަކަށް މިހާރު ކުރައްވަމުން ގެންދަވާ ދަތުރުފުޅުގައި، އެ އަތޮޅު ހިރިލަންދޫ ރައްޔިތުންނާ ބައްދަލުކުރައްވައި ދެއްކެވި ވާހަކަފުޅުގައެވެ.

ހިރިލަންދޫއަކީ މަސްވެރިކަމާއި މަސްވެރިކަމާ ގުޅުންހުރި މަސައްކަތްތައް ކުރަމުން އަންނަ ރަށެއްކަން ފާހަގަކުރައްވައި، ރައީސް ވިދާޅުވެފައިވަނީ އެ މަސައްކަތްތަކަށް ސަރުކާރުން ޚާއްޞަ އިސްކަމެއް ދެއްވާ ކަމަށެވެ.

His Excellency President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has formally announced that construction of the cold storage facility planned for Th. Hirilandhoo is scheduled to start in January of the coming year. The announcement was made during the President’s ongoing tour of inhabited islands within Kolhumadulu Atoll, while addressing the residents of Hirilandhoo.

In his remarks, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu highlighted that Th. Hirilandhoo is an island where fishing and fishing-related activities are actively carried out. He stated that the government focus on supporting these sectors.

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu further stated that the development of the cold storage facility is consistent with the pledges made during his presidential campaign.

Furthermore, the President indicated that preparations are underway to present the cold storage project to the People’s Majlis. He noted that the initiative has been included in the upcoming budget, and construction is expected to begin following its approval.

In conclusion, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu expressed his commitment to ensuring that the construction of the cold storage facility in Hirilandhoo will progress efficiently and be completed within the designated timeframe.

އެމަނިކުފާނު މިހެން ވިދާޅުވީ ހަތަރު އަތޮޅެއްގެ މީހުން ދިރިއުޅޭ ރަށްރަށަށް މިހާރު ކުރައްވަމުން ގެންދަވާ ދަތުރުފުޅުގައި، މުލަކު ރައްޔިތުންނާ ބައްދަލުކުރައްވައި ވާހަކަފުޅުދައްކަވަމުންނެވެ.

His Excellency President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has officially announced that construction of a fuel skid in M. Mulah, designed to establish a system facilitating convenient fuel access for fishermen, will commence in January next year.

The President made this announcement during his ongoing tour of inhabited islands across four atolls whilst addressing the residents of M. Mulaku.

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu highlighted that Mulaku Atoll holds a prominent position in the fisheries sector. He stated that upon completion of the projects to establish a 30-tonne ice plant, cold storage facility, and fuel skid in Mulaku, the island's fishing sector will be significantly strengthened, thereby contributing to the improvement of livelihoods within local communities. These developments are expected to enhance operational capacity and improve the livelihoods of local communities

The President emphasised that establishing systems to provide easy access to ice and affordable fuel supply is an important pledge he has made. In this regard, he announced that the implementation of a system enabling fishermen to procure fuel at State Trading Organisation (STO) rates has been entrusted to STO, with the project scheduled for completion by March next year.

މ. މުލަކުގައި 30 ޓަނުގެ އައިސްޕްލާންޓާއި 60 ޓަނުގެ އައިސް ސްޓޯރޭޖް ފެސިލިޓީ ގާއިމުކުރުމުގެ އެއްބަސްވުމުގައި 3 ވޭ އެންޓަރ ޕްރައިސަސް ޕްރައިވެޓް ލިމިޓެޑާއެކު މިއަދުވަނީ ސޮއިކުރައްވައިފިއެވެ.

މި އެއްބަސްވުމުގައި ސޮއިކުރުމުގެ ރަސްމިއްޔާތު ބޭއްވުނީ 21 ސެޕްޓެމްބަރ 2025 ވަނަ ދުވަހު މުލަކުގައި ބޭއްވުނު ރަސްމިއަޔާތެއްގައެވެ. މަސްވެރިކަމާއި ކަނޑުގެ ވަސީލަތްތަކާއި ބެހޭ ވުޒާރާގެ ފަރާތުން ސޮއިކުރެއްވީ މިނިސްޓަރ އަޙްމަދު ޝިޔާމެވެ. އަދި 3 ވޭ އެންޓަރ ޕްރައިސަސް ޕްރައިވެޓް ލިމިޓެޑުގެ ފަރާތުން ސޮއިކުރެއްވީ އެ ކުންފުނީގެ ޑިރެކްޓަރ ޑރ. އިކްލީލް ޝަރީފެވެ.

މި މަސައްކަތަކީ، މާލެއަތޮޅު މެރިކަލްޗަރ މަސައްކަތް އެވޯޑު ކޮށްފައިވާ 3 ވޭ އެންޓަރ ޕްރައިސަސް ޕްރައިވެޓް ލިމިޓެޑު ކުންފުނީގެ ސީ.އެސް.އާރް (ކޯޕަރޭޓް ސޯޝަލް ރެސްޕޮންސިބިލިޓީ)ގެ ދަށުން ކުރިއަށްގެންދާ މަސައްކަތެކެވެ. މުލަކުގައި ގާއިމުކުރާ އައިސްޕްލާންޓްގެ މަސައްކަތް 8 މަސް ދުވަހުގެ ތެރޭގައި ނިންމާލުމަށްވަނީ ހަމަޖެހިފައެވެ.

The Ministry of Fisheries and Ocean Resources has signed an agreement with 3 Way Enterprises Private Limited for the establishment of an ice production and storage facility in Meemu Mulaku. The facility will have a production capacity of 30 tonnes of ice per day and a storage capacity of 60 tonnes in Meemu Mulaku.

The signing ceremony was held on 21 September 2025 in Meemu Mulaku. The agreement was signed by Minister Ahmed Shiyam on behalf of the Ministry, and Dr Ikleel Shareef, Director of 3 Way Enterprises Private Limited.

The project is being carried out under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme of 3 Way Enterprises Private Limited, the company awarded the Malé Atoll Mariculture Project.

The construction work for the ice plant to be established is scheduled to be completed within an eight-month period, according to the contract.

As part of his official visit to Faafu Nilandhoo, His Excellency President Dr Mohamed Muizzu met with the people and local communities. During the visit, the President witnessed the signing of the  agreement between the Ministry of Fisheries and Ocean Resources and the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC).

The agreement provides for the development of infrastructure to support the establishment of a fish processing and canning factory in Faafu Nilandhoo.

The agreement was signed on behalf of the Ministry by Minister Ahmed Shiyam, and on behalf of MTCC by Chief Executive Officer Ahmed Saud. Under this project, MTCC has been assigned the work of land reclamation and harbour development to facilitate the fish processing factory.

This project forms an important part of the Government’s ongoing efforts to advance the Maldivian fisheries sector and to provide fishermen with access to markets at affordable prices to sell their catch, thereby strengthening the national fishing industry and supporting the livelihoods of local fishing communities.

މި މަސައްކަތު ބައްދަލުވުމުގެ މަޤްޞަދަކީ ދުނިޔޭގެ ކަނޑުތަކުގެ ޤާނޫނު (އަންކްލޯސް) އާއި އެއާ ގުޅުންހުރި އެހެނިހެން މުޢާހަދާތަކާއި އެގްރިމެންޓްތަކަށް ބައިވެރިން އަހުލުވެރިކުރުވުމާއި، ސަރަޙައްދީ އަދި ޤައުމީ ފެންވަރުގައި ކަނޑުގެ ސަރަޙައްދު ބެލެހެއްޓުމުގެ ޤާނޫނީ އަދި އިދާރީ އޮނިގަނޑުތަކަށް އަލިއަޅުވާލުމެވެ. މީގެ އިތުރުން، 2030 އެޖެންޑާ ފޯ ސަސްޓެއިނަބަލް ޑިވެލޮޕްމަންޓްގެ ދެމެހެއްޓެނިވި ތަރައްޤީގެ ލަނޑުދަނޑިތައް (އެސް.ޑީ.ޖީ) އާ ގުޅުންހުރި މައްސަލަތަކާއި، ނޫ އިޤްތިޞާދެއް ބިނާކުރުމާ ގުޅޭ ގޮތުންނާއި، ސައިންސްގެ އަލީގައި ސިޔާސަތު ބައްޓަންކުރުމާ ގޫޅޭ ގޮތުން އަދި މޫސުމީ ބަދަލުތަކާ ގުޅިގެން ކަނޑުގެ ސަރަޙައްދު ބެލެހެއްޓުމުގައި އިސްކަންދޭން ޖެހޭ ކަންކަމާގުޅޭ ގޮތުން މި ބައްދަލުވުމުގައި މަޝްވަރާކުރެވިގެންދާނެއެވެ.

ދިވެހިރާއްޖެ ހިމެނޭގޮތަށް 12 މެމްބަރު ޤައުމަކުން 47 މަންދޫބުން މި ވަރކްޝޮޕްގައި ބައިވެރިވެފައިވެއެވެ. މި މަސައްކަތު ބައްދަލުވުމަށްފަހު، ދިވެހިރާއްޖޭގައި ޔުނައިޓެޑް ނޭޝަންސް ފިޝް ސްޓޮކްސް އެގްރީމެންޓް  (ޔޫ.އެން.އެފް.އެސް.އޭ) ތަންފީޛުކުރުމުގެ ޤާބިލުކަން އިތުރުކޮށް، ކަމާ ގުޅޭ އިދާރާތަކުގެ އޮފިޝަލުން ތަމްރީނުކުރުމަށްޓަކައި ތިން ދުވަހުގެ ޤައުމީ ވަރކްޝޮޕެއްވެސް ބޭއްވުމަށް ވަނީ ރޭވިފައެވެ. މި ތަމްރީނު ޕްރޮގްރާމުގައި ސަރަޙައްދީ މަސްވެރިކަން މެނޭޖްކުރާ ޖަމްޢިއްޔާތައް (އާރް.އެފް.އެމް.އޯ) މެދުވެރިކޮށް ކުރެވޭ މަސައްކަތްތަކާއި، ޤާނޫނާއި ގަވާއިދާ ޚިލާފަށް ރިޕޯޓުކުރުމެއް ނެތި އަދި ބެލެހެއްޓުމެއް ނެތި ކުރެވޭ (އައި.ޔޫ.ޔޫ) މަސްވެރިކަން ހުއްޓުވުމަށް އެޅިދާނެ ފިޔަވަޅުތަކުގެ އަލިއަޅުވާލެވިގެންދާނެއެވެ.

A workshop on the Law of the Sea and Ocean Governance for the Wider Indian Ocean Region was inaugurated today in Villa Nautica by the Minister of State of Fisheries and Ocean Resources, Ms. Aminath Hussain Shareef.

Organised by the Division for Ocean Affairs and the Law of the Sea (DOALOS) of the Office of Legal Affairs of the United Nations, in collaboration with the Government of Maldives, the workshop is implemented under the Division’s project “Strengthening the Strategic Capacity of Developing States in Ocean Governance and the Law of the Sea for Sustainable Ocean Economies”, funded by the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (Norad).

The objective of this four-day workshop is to provide participants with an introduction to the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) and related instruments, as well as an overview of legal and institutional frameworks for ocean management at global, regional and national levels. Participants will also explore issues related to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, concepts of blue economy and ocean finance, and regional priorities such as ocean governance, the science-policy interface, and climate change.

Speaking at the inauguration, State Minister Aminath Hussain Shareef highlighted the importance of regional cooperation, stating: “We know from experience that no nation, however committed, can secure the health of its waters in isolation. The law of the sea provides us with the compass; but it is the regional cooperation that provides us the vessel and means. When we align our national frameworks with global standards and act together at the regional and subregional level, we can protect migratory and straddling fish stocks, safeguard marine biodiversity, and unlock the promise of a truly sustainable blue economy.”

A total of 47 representatives from 12 Member States, including the Maldives, are participating in the workshop.

The programme features sessions on UNCLOS, ocean governance frameworks, blue economy and finance, maritime security, and regional approaches to ocean affairs, along with exercises and discussions to foster peer learning among participants.

Following the regional workshop, a national workshop of three days will be held to strengthen the Maldives’ implementation of the United Nations Fish Stocks Agreement (UNFSA). This programme will provide Maldivian officials and stakeholders with a deeper understanding of the Agreement and the practical steps needed to fulfil national obligations, including cooperation through RFMOs, data exchange, and enforcement against IUU fishing.

މި އެއްބަސްވުމުގައި ސޮއިކުރުމުގެ ރަސްމިއްޔާތު ބޭއްވުނީ 18 ސެޕްޓެމްބަރ 2025 ވަނަ ދުވަހު މަސްވެރިކަމާބެހޭ ވުޒާރާގައެވެ. މަސްވެރިކަމާއި ކަނޑުގެ ވަސީލަތްތަކާއި ބެހޭ ވުޒާރާގެ ފަރާތުން ސޮއިކުރެއްވީ އަލްފާޟިލާ އީނާސް ނަޞީރު، ޑިރެކްޓަރ އަދި ފައިނޭންސް އެގްޒެކެޓިވް އަދި ޤައުމީ ޔުނިވަރސިޓީގެ ފަރާތުން ސޮއިކުރެއްވީ ވައިސް ޗާންސެލަރ ޑރ. އައިޝަތު ޝެހެނާޒް އާދަމެވެ.

މި އެއްބަސްވުމަކީ ވޯލްޑް ބޭންކުގެ ލޯނު އަދި ހިލޭއެހީގެ ދަށުން ހިންގާ ޓްރާންސްފޯމިންގ ފިޝަރީޒް ސެކްޓަރ މެނޭޖްމަންޓް އިން ދަ ސައުތު-ވެސްޓް އިންޑިއަން އޯޝަން ރީޖަން އަދި މޯލްޑިވްސް ޕްރޮޖެކްޓް (ޓްރާންސްފޯރމް ޕްރޮޖެކްޓް)ގެ ދަށުން ކުރިޔަށްގެންދާ ޕްރޮގްރާމެކެވެ. މި މަޝްރޫޢުގެ ދަށުން މީގެ ކުރިން ވަނީ  މަސްވެރިކަމާއި، މެރިކަލްޗަރ، އަކުއަކަލްޗަރ އަދި ދަނޑުވެރިކަމާ ގުޅޭ އެކި ދާއިރާތަކުން ރާއްޖެއިން ބޭރުގައި ކިޔެވުމަށް 17 ދިވެހި ދަރިވަރުންނަށް ސްކޮލަރޝިޕް ދީފައެވެ. 

މި ޕްރޮގްރާމް ފެށުމަށް ހަމަޖެހިފައިވަނީ ފިޝަރީޒް އެންޑް އެކުއާކަލްޗަރގެ ދާއިރާއިން އެއް އަހަރު ދުވަހުގެ ފައުންޑޭޝަން ޕްރޮގްރާމަކުންނެވެ. އޭގެ ފަހުން، ޑިޕްލޮމާ އަދި ބެޗްލާސް ޑިގްރީ ފުރިހަމަކުރެވޭނެއެވެ. މި ކޯހަކީ ކްލާސްރޫމް ތަޢުލީމާއި ޢަމަލީ ތަޖުރިބާ އެކުލެވޭ ފުލްޓައިމް ކޯހެކެވެ. ފައުންޑޭޝަން އަދި ޑިޕްލޮމާ ފެންވަރުގައި، ދަރިވަރުން ކިޔަވާނީ މައިގަނޑު 'ކޯރ' މޮޑިއުލްތަކެވެ. އެޑްވާންސްޑް ޑިޕްލޮމާ ފެންވަރުން ފެށިގެން މަތިން، ދަރިވަރުންނަށް އިޚްތިޔާރީ މާއްދާތައް ނުވަތަ 'އިލެކްޓިވްސް' ޚިޔާރުކުރުމުގެ ފުރުސަތު ލިބިގެންދާނެއެވެ.

މި ޕްރޮގްރާމްގައި ފިޝަރީޒް ސައިންސް އަދި އެކުއާކަލްރ ގެ ދާއިރާއިން ޚާއްސަ ވުމުގެ ފުރުސަތު ލިބިގެންދާނެއެވެ. އަދި ކޮންމެ ޕްރޮގްރާމެއް ނިމުމުން ދަރިވަރުންނަށް ޕްރޮގްރާމުން ވަކިވެ، ފުރިހަމަކޮށްފައިވާ ލެވެލްއަށް ސެޓްފިކެޓް ލިބުމުގެ އިޙްތިޔާރުވެސް އޮންނާނެއެވެ.

މި އެއްބަސްވުމުގެ ދަށުން ދިވެހިރާއްޖޭގެ ޤައުމީ ޔުނިވަރސިޓީއިން މި ޕްރޮގްރާމަށް މޯލްޑިވްސް ކޮލިފިކޭޝަންސް އޮތޯރިޓީ (އެމް.ކިއު.އޭ) ގެ މިންގަނޑުތަކާ އެއްގޮތްވާ ގޮތުގެ މަތިން ފުރިހަމަ މަންހަޖާއި ކޯސް މެޓީރިއަލްތައް ތައްޔާރުކުރުމަށް ވަނީ ހަމަޖެހިފައެވެ. މީގެ ތެރޭގައި ފިޝަރީޒް ސައިންސް، އެކުއާކަލްޗާ، ރިސޯސް މެނޭޖްމަންޓް، ކްލައިމެޓް ރެޒިލިއަންސް އަދި ސަސްޓެއިނަބިލިޓީ ފަދަ މޮޑިއުލްތައް ހިމެނެއެވެ.

މި މަސައްކަތް ނިންމުމަށް ކަނޑައެޅިފައިވާ މުއްދަތަކީ އެއްބަސްވުމުގައި ސޮއިކުރާ ތާރީޚުން ފެށިގެން 43 މަހެވެ. މި ކޯހުގެ މަންހަޖު ތައްޔާރުކޮށް ނިމުމުން، ކޯސް ހިންގުމަށް ވެސް ހަމަޖެހިފައިވަނީ މޯލްޑިވްސް ނޭޝަނަލް ޔުނިވާރސިޓީ އިންނެވެ. މި ކޯހުގައި ޓްރާންސްފޯމް މަޝްރޫޢުގެ ސްޕޮންސަރޝިޕް ގެ ދަށުން ކިޔެވުމުގެ ފުރުސަތު ރާއްޖެ އަދި ސައުތުވެސްޓް އިންޑިއަން އޯޝަން ރީޖަންގެ ގައުމުތަކުގެ ދަރިވަރުންނަށް ހުޅުވިގެންދާނެއެވެ.

The Ministry of Fisheries and Ocean Resources (MoFOR) and the Maldives National University (MNU) have signed a contract for the development of the curriculum for the Bachelors in Fisheries and Aquaculture course.

The signing ceremony was held on 18 September 2025 at the Ministry. Ms. Eenas Naseer, Director and Finance Executive, signed on behalf of the Ministry, while Dr. Aishath Shehenaz Adam, Vice Chancellor, signed on behalf of the Maldives National University.

This activity is made possible through the Transforming Fisheries Sector Management in the South-West Indian Ocean Region and Maldives Project (TransFORM Project), funded by the World Bank. The Project has previously awarded 17 scholarships to Maldivian students to pursue higher education abroad in a range of disciplines essential to fisheries, mariculture, aquaculture and agriculture development.

The contract will support the development of a Bachelor of Fisheries and Aquaculture program, creating new higher education opportunities in the field and strengthening national expertise in sustainable fisheries. The program will start with a one-year Foundation in Fisheries and Aquaculture, followed by a Diploma and finally bachelor’s degree. It is a full-time course that combines classroom learning with practical experience. At the Foundation and Diploma levels, students will study core modules, and from the Advanced Diploma level onwards, they can choose electives.

The program offers two study pathways: Fisheries Science and Aquaculture. Students also have the flexibility to exit the program at the end of each level and will receive a certificate for the level they have completed.

Under the contract, MNU will develop the full curriculum and course materials for the program in line with Maldives Qualifications Authority (MQA) standards, and deliver a complete package of modules covering fisheries science, aquaculture, resource management, climate resilience, and sustainability.

Following the development of the Course, MNU will implement the program which will be targeted to locals and participants from the South-West Indian Ocean Region Countries, on sponsorship basis from the project. The duration for the completion of this assignment is 43 months from the date of signing the contract.

His Excellency Nicholas David Low, the British High Commissioner to the Maldives, paid a courtesy visit to Minister Ahmed Shiyam.

During the discussion, the High Commissioner highlighted the UK government’s priority and expressed interest in becoming a strategic partner to support the development of the fisheries sector. He further emphasised the importance of the already established working group.

The meeting covered key avenues for collaboration, including a Free Trade Agreement (FTA), scholarship opportunities, tuna exports to the UK, the upcoming Ocean Climate Partnership Program (OCPP) workshop, and maritime security initiatives.

Minister Shiyam was accompanied at the meeting by State Minister Mohamed Muthalib, State Minister Aminath Shareef, Permanent Secretary Dr. Aminath Shafia, Director General Dr. Hussain Sinan, and Director Fiuna Rashid.

Minister Ahmed Shiyam visited the Mawei Aquatic Products Trading Centre, the largest facility of its kind in China. The Centre specialises in facilitating the trade of a wide range of aquatic products by connecting fishers, suppliers, and both local and international traders. It also serves as a central hub for domestic seafood distribution.

The Centre's operational model demonstrates significant potential to enhance and strengthen seafood trade in the Maldives, particularly in light of the ongoing expansion of the country's aquaculture sector.

މި މިނިސްޓްރީގެ ފަރާތުން ފަހުމުނާމާގައި ސޮއިކުރައްވާފައިވަނީ މޯލްޑިވްސް މެރިން ރިސަރޗް އިންސްޓިޓިއުޓްގެ، ޑިރެކްޓަރ ޖެނެރަލް މުޙައްމަދު ޝިމާލް އެވެ. 

މި ފަހުމުނާމާގެ މައިގަނޑު މަޤްޞަދަކީ އެކުއަކަލްޗަރ ދާއިރާ ކުރިއެރުވުމަށް ބޭނުންވާ ދިވެހިރާއްޖޭގެ މާހައުލާ ގުޅޭ ޒަމާނީ ޓެކްނޮލޮޖީ ތަޢާރަފްކުރުމަށް ދިރާސާކުރުމާއި އެކުއާކަލްޗަރ ދާއިރާ ކުރިއެކުރުވުމުގެ އެހެނިހެން ދިރާސާ އަދި ކަނޑުގެ މާހައުލާ ކަނޑުގެ ވަސީލަތްތައް ދެމެހެއްޓެނިވި ގޮތެއްގައި ބެލެހެއްޓުމާއި ގުޅުންހުރި ދިރާސާކުރުމެވެ.

މި ފަހުމުނާމާއަކީ ތިމާވެށި ރައްކާތެރިކުރުމަށް ދިވެހިރާއްޖެ އާއި ޗައިނާއިން ދޭ ޚާއްޞަ ސަމާލުކަން ހާމަކޮށްދޭ މުހިންމު ފިޔަވަޅެކެވެ. މީގެއިތުރުން، މި އެއްބަސްވުމަކީ ދެމެހެއްޓެނިވި ގޮތެއްގައި އެކުއަކަލްޗަރ ދާއިރާ ތަރައްޤީކުރުމަށް އެޅޭ އިތުރު ހަރުދަނާ ފިޔަވަޅެއް ކަމުގައިވެސް ފާހަގަކުރެވެއެވެ. މި އެއްބަސްވުމުގެ ސަބަބުން ދެ ޤައުމުގެ މެދުގައި ޢިލްމީ އަދި ޓެކްނިކަލް ގުޅުން އިތުރަށް ބަދަހިވެ، ކަނޑުގެ ދިރުންތައް ދެމެހެއްޓެނިވި ގޮތެއްގައި ބޭނުންކުރުމަށް މަގުފަހިވެގެންދާނެ ކަމަށް އުންމީދުކުރެވެއެވެ

Minister Ahmed Shiyam witnessed the signing of Aquaculture and Marine Resource Management between the Maldives and China. The signing ceremony was held in Xiamen, Chin.

The Maldives Marine Research Institute (MMRI), Ministry of Fisheries and Ocean Resources, Republic of Maldives,  has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Fisheries Research Institute of Fujian, People’s Republic of China.

Mohamed Shimaal, Director General of the Maldives Marine Research Institute, signed the Memorandum of Understanding on behalf of the Government of Maldives.

This MoU aims to strengthen strategic cooperation between two countries, focusing on research in sustainable aquaculture and marine resource management by jointly developing innovative and environmentally friendly aquaculture technologies, and promoting the sustainable management of the Ocean.

 އެކުއަކަލްޗަރ ސިނާޢަތް  ތަރައްޤީކުރުމަށް ދިވެހިރާއްޖެއާއި ޗައިނާއާއި ދެމެދު  ފަހުމުނާމާގައި ސޮއިކުރުމުގެ ރަސްމިއްޔާތުގައި މިނިސްޓަރ އަހުމަދު ޝިއާމް ބައިވެރިވެވަޑައިގެންނަވައިފި.

ރައީސުލްޖުމްހޫރިއްޔާ ޑރ. މުޙައްމަދު މުޢިއްޒު މިލަދުންމަޑުލު އުތުރުބުރީގެ ރަށްރަށަށް ކުރައްވަމުން ގެންދަވާ ދަތުރުފުޅުގެ ތެރެއިން، ށ. ފުނަދޫގައި ޤާއިމުކުރެވުނު އައިސްޕްލާންޓު މިއަދު ރަސްމީކޮށް ހުޅުވައިދެއްވައިފިއެވެ.

މި އައިސްޕްލާންޓަކީ ދުވާލަކު 30 ޓަނުގެ އައިސް އުފައްދައި، 50 ޓަނުގެ އައިސް ރައްކާކުރެވޭ ޤާބިލުކަން ލިބިފައިވާ ޕްލާންޓެކެވެ.

ސަރުކާރުގެ އަމާޒަކީ ކުރިއަށް އޮތް ދެ އަހަރު ދުވަހުގެ ތެރޭގައި ރާއްޖޭގެ އެކި ސަރަޙައްދުތަކުގައި މިފަދަ އައިސްޕްލާންޓުތައް ޤާއިމުކޮށް ނިންމުމެވެ. މަސްވެރިންނަށް ދިމާވެފައިވާ އެންމެ ބޮޑު އެއް ގޮންޖެހުމަކީ ފަސޭހަކަމާއެކު އައިސް ލިބުމުގެ ދަތިކަމެވެ. ނަމަވެސް، މި މަޝްރޫޢުތައް ފުރިހަމަވުމުން އައިސް ލިބުމުގެ ދަތިތަކަށް ޙައްލު ލިބިގެންދާނެ އެވެ.

His Excellency President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has officially inaugurated an ice plant in Sh. Funadhoo today, as part of his ongoing visit to the islands of Miladhunmadulu Uthuruburi.

The ice plant has the capacity to produce 30 tonnes of ice daily, with storage facilities capable of holding up to 50 tonnes.

The Government has set a target to establish more ice plants across various regions of the Maldives within the next two years.

One of the main challenges faced by fishermen is limited access to ice, which is essential for preserving the quality and freshness of their catch.

Once completed, these projects will solve the problem of ice accessibility for fishermen.

ވަޒީރު އަހުމަދު ޝިޔާމް ވިދާޅުވީ މަސްވެރިންނަށް އައިސް، ލިބުމަށްހުރި ގޮންޖެހުންތައް ހައްލުކުރުމަށްޓަކައި އައިސް ޕްލާންޓް އިތުރުކޮށް، އޮޑި ދޯނިފަހަރުގައި ލޮނުފެނުން، މަސް ފިނިކުރާ ނިޒާމް ގާއިމްކުރުމަށް މަގުފަހި، ކޮށްދެއްވުމަކީ ރައީސް ޑރ. މުއިއްޒު ވަރަށް ހާއްސަ އަހައްމިއްޔަތުކަން ދެއްވާކަމެއް ކަމަށެވެ.

ރާއްޖޭގެ އެކި ރަށްރަށުގައި ޤާއިމް ކުރާ އައިސްޕްލާންޓުތައް ކުރިއަށް އޮތް ދެ އަހަރު ދުވަހުގެ ތެރޭގައި ނިންމުމަށް ސަރުކާރުންވަނީ އަމާޒުހިފާފައެވެ.

Ministry has signed an agreement with Ethion Private Limited to establish an ice plant and ice storage facility in Sh. Komandoo.

The agreement was signed on behalf of the government by Ministry of Fisheries and Ocean Resources

Ahmed Shiyam, whilst Executive Director Kiyaashathu Abdullah signed on behalf of Ethion Private Limited.

The agreement to assign the establishment of Komandoo's ice plant to Ethion Private Limited was signed during a ceremony held as part of President Dr Mohamed Muizzu's ongoing tour of islands in North Miladhunmadulu Atoll  during his official meeting with the residents of Sh. Komandoo.

The facilities to be established in Sh. Komandoo comprise a 30-tonne ice plant and a 50-tonne ice storage facility.

His Excellency President Dr Mohamed Muizzu, speaking at the meeting with Komandoo residents, assured that work on establishing the ice plant and cold storage facility would be completed successfully.

At the ceremony, Minister Ahmed Shiyam highlighted that establishing additional ice plants and facilitating the installation of Refrigerated Seawater (RSW) systems on fishing vessels, in order to address the shortage of ice required for preserving the daily catch in various locations, is an important policy of His Excellency President Dr Mohamed Muizzu.

Ministry Senior Officials Meet with GDh. Madaveli Council to Address Challenges Faced by Fishermen.

Senior officials from the Ministry met with the Island Council of GDh. Madaveli to discuss key challenges affecting the local fisheremen.

The meeting was attended by State Minister,  Mohamed Mutthalib and State Minister Aminath Husain Shareef, from the Ministry. The President of the Madaveli Island Council, Mr Fiyaz Hassan, along with senior council members, also participated in the discussions.

During the meeting, the Council presented the challenges currently faced by fishermen in GDh.Madaveli. These included the need to establish an ice plant on the island to resolve the shortage of ice required for preserving the daily catch, and the necessity of repairing damaged Fish Aggregating Devices (FADs) located near GDh. Madaveli.

Furthermore, the Council emphasised the importance of facilitating access to loans for fishermen to establish Refrigerated Seawater (RSW) systems, with the aim of modernizing fishing operations and improving catch quality.

"އަގުއެއްކުރި މަހުގެ އުފެއްދުން ތައްޔާރުކުރުމާއި ކުދި ވިޔަފާރި ހިންގާ ބެލެހެއްޓުމުގެ" ތަމްރީން ޕްރޮގްރާމެއް، ފާދިއްޕޮޅު ކައުންސިލްގެ އިދާރާ އާއި މިނިސްޓްރީ އޮފް ފިޝަރީޒް އެންޑް އޯޝަން ރިސޯސަސް އާއި ގުޅިގެން ޅ. ކުރެންދޫގައި 05 އޮކްޓޫބަރު 2025 ވަނަ ދުވަހު ފެށިފައިވެއެވެ. މިވުޒާރާއިން ހިންގާ މިތަމްރީނު މި އޮކްޓޫބަރު މަހުގެ 05 އިން 09 ވަނަ ދުވަހުގެ ނިޔަލަށް ކުރިޔަށް ދާނެއެވެ. މިތަމްރީނުގައި ޖުމްލަ 26 ބައިވެރިން   ބައިވެރިވެފައިވެއެވެ. އެއީ 23 އަންހެން ބައިވެރިންނާއި 03 ފިރިހެން ބައިވެރިންނެވެ.  

މިތަމްރީނުގައި މަހުން ތައްޔާރުކުރާ އަގުއެއްކުރި ބާވަތްތަކާއި ގުޅޭ މަޢުލޫމާތުދީ އަދި ޢަމަލީގޮތުން އެތަކެތި ބައިވެރިން ތައްޔާރުކުރުމުގެ ފުރުޞަތު ފަހިކޮށްދެވޭނެއެވެ. މީގެ އިތުރުން ވިޔަފާރީގެ އުޞުލޫން މިފަދަ މަސައްކަތެއްކުރުމަށް ބޭނުންވާ މަޢުލޫމާތާއި ބައެއް ހުނަރު ބައިވެރިންނަށް ދަސްކޮށްދެވޭނެއެވެ.

މި ތަމްރީނު ޕްރޮގްރާމުގައި މަޢުލޫމާތު ދެއްވަނީ މިވުޒާރާގެ ފަންނީ ތިން މުވައްޒަފުންނެވެ.

A training programme on "Value-Added Fish Product Preparation and Small Business Management" commenced on 05 October 2025 in L. Kurendhoo, organised in collaboration with the Faadhippolhu Council Secretariat and the Ministry of Fisheries and Ocean Resources. This training programme, conducted by the Ministry, will continue until the evening of 09 October 2025. A total of 26 participants are taking part in the programme, comprising 23 female participants and 03 male participants.

The training programme will provide participants with information on value-added products that can be produced monthly, alongside practical hands-on experience in product development.

Additionally, they will learn essential business fundamentals and specialised skills required for establishing and operating their own business.

The programme is being conducted by technical officers from the Ministry, including the Deputy Director General, Mr Adam Manik, Fisheries Officer, Mr Ahsan Mohamed and Fisheries Officer, Ms Maryam Ruva Rasheed.

Training Programme on Value-Added Monthly Production and Small Business Management in Lh. Kurendhoo 

އ. ދ. ގެ ކާބޯތަކެއްޗާއި ދަނޑުވެރިކަމުގެ ޖަމްޢިއްޔާގެ މެންބަރުން ވުޒާރާގެ އިސްވެރިންނާ ބައްދަލުކުރައްވައިފި

Ministry had a high-level meeting with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) SCOPE Mission (Sustainability, Capacity-building, and Operational Performance Enhancement) to discuss strengthening collaboration on sustainable food systems.

The discussion focused on enhancing collaboration to develop resilient, inclusive, and sustainable food systems in alignment with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Permanent Secretary Dr. Aminath Shafia highlighted the current challenges facing the Maldives, future areas of work, opportunities to enhance collaboration, and areas of assistance that the country can access through FAO's support.

The Permanent Secretary was accompanied at the meeting by Director Fiuna Rashid from the Ministry.

The FAO delegation included Xiangjun Yao, Director (OSL), accompanied by Victor Mol, Policy/Programme Officer (FAORAP), Nalin Munasinghe, Assistant FAO Representative (FAOLK); and Adriano Spinelli, Policy Specialist SCOPE – SIDS (DDC).

The Ministry holds high-level meeting with FAO SCOPE Mission to enhance collaboration on sustainable food systems.

ވަޒީރު ވިދާޅުވީ ދިވެހިރާއްޖޭގެ މަސްވެރިކަން ތަރައްޤީކޮށް މަސްވެރިންނަށް ލިބެންޖެހޭ ޚިދުމަތްތައް އެންމެ ފުރިހަމަ ގޮތުގައި ފޯރުކޮށްދިނުމަކީ ރައީސުލްޖުމްހޫރިއްޔާ ޑރ. މުހައްމަދު މުޢިއްޒުގެ ސިޔާސަތުގެ ތެރޭގައި ހިމެނޭ މުހިންމު ކަމެއް ކަމަށެވެ. އެގޮތުން މި ސިޔާސަތު ތަންފީޒުރުމަށްޓަކައި އައި.އެސް.ޑީ.ބީ އަދި އެލް.އެލް،އެފް އާއި ގުޅިގެން ހިންގާ މަޝްރޫޢު މެދުވެރިކޮށް މިހާރު ވަނީ އޮޑި ދޯނި ފަހަރުގައި މަސް ފިނިކޮށް ރައްކާކުރުމަށް ބޭނުންވާ އާރް.އެސް.ޑަބްލިއު ސިސްޓަމް އަދި ޖަނަރޭޓަރ ސެޓް ލިބޭނެ އިންތިޒާމު ހަމަޖެހިފައި ކަމަށް ވަޒީރު ވިދާޅުވިއެވެ. މިއީ ދިވެހި މަސްވެރީންނާއި އޮޑިވެރީންނަށް ލިބުނު ކުރިއެރުމެއް ކަމަށް ވަޒީރު ވިދާޅުވިއެވެ.

މަސްވެރިންނަށް އައިސް، ލިބުމަށްހުރި ގޮންޖެހުންތައް ހައްލުކުރުމަށްޓަކައި އައިސް ޕްލާންޓް އިތުރުކޮށް، އޮޑި ދޯނިފަހަރުގައި ލޮނުފެނުން، މަސް ފިނިކުރާ ނިޒާމް ގާއިމްކުރުމަށް މަގުފަހި، ކޮށްދެއްވުމަކީ ރައީސް ޑރ. މުއިއްޒު ވަރަށް ހާއްސަ އަހައްމިއްޔަތުކަން ދެއްވާކަމެއް ކަމަށެވެ. އެގޮތުން މި ޕްރޮޖެކްޓަކީ މި ސިޔާސަތުގެ ދަށުން، އައިއެސްީބީ އަދި އެލް.އެލް އެފް އާއި ގުޅިގެން، ސަރުކާރުން ހިންގާ 13.6 މިލިއަން ޑޮލަރުގެ ޕްރޮޖެކްޓެއް ކަމަށާ މި، ޕްރޮޖެކްޓުގެ ދަށުން، ސިސްޓަމް ހަރުކޮށްފައިވާ އަދި ހަރުކުރަމުންދާ ގިނަ ދޯނި ފަހަރަށް، ލުއި ފަސޭހަތަކެއް ލިބިގެން ގޮސްފައިވާކަން ވަޒީރު ފާހަގަކުރެއްވިއެވެ.

ޒަމާނާ އެއްގޮތަށް މަސްވެރިކަން ތަރައްގީވަމުން އައުމަކީ ކާމިޔާބީއެއް ކަމަށާ ކާމިޔާބީގެ ފަހަތުގައި ވަނީ މި މަޝްރޫއުގެ ދަށުން އާރް.އެސް.ޑަބްލިއު ސިސްޓަމް އަދި ޖެނެރޭޓަރ ސެޓް ގެނެސް، ދިވެހި މަސްވެރިކަން ކުރިއަރުވައި ތަރައްޤީކުރުމަށް މަސްވެރިން ކުރަމުން ގެންދާ ބުރަ މަސައްކަތްކަން ވަޒީރު ފާހަގަކުރެއްވިއެވެ
