Minister Ahmed Shiyam met with IFAD Country Director Ms. Sherina Tabassum to discuss Fisheries Sector Development.

Minister Ahmed Shiyam, met with the Country Director of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), Ms. Sherina Tabassum.

The Minister expressed gratitude to IFAD for their assistance in developing the fisheries sector and shared President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s vision for fisheries development, particularly focusing on the mariculture sector. Minister Shiyam also emphasised the important role of women in small-scale fish processing and stressed the need for further improvements in the industry.

Ms. Tabassum expressed her gratitude to the government for the close collaboration and IFAD’s strong commitment to supporting the development of the fisheries sector in the Maldives.
