Minister inaugurated the 'Bay of Bengal Large Marine Ecosystems Project Phase 2'

Minister Ahmed Shiyam inaugurated the 'Bay of Bengal Large Marine Ecosystems Project Phase 2' in Lhaviyani Atoll, Naifaru today.

Speaking at the official inauguration ceremony, Minister  emphasised the significant role of the project in empowering fishermen for sustainable fisheries management. Additionally, Minister expressed gratitude to the project partners BOBP-IGO and IUCN for their invaluable support in initiatives that align with key government policies.

The workshop was co-organised with the Ministry of Climate Change, Environment, and Energy, the IUCN Maldives, and the Bay of Bengal Programme Inter-Governmental Organisation.

The workshop was attended by Yaseen Abdullah, MP of Naifaru Constituency, K. Naifar Council Members, MNDF Coast Guard, Marine Police-Maldives Police Service, Environmental Protection Agency, Ministry of Climate Change, Environment and Energy, Fish Purchasing Companies, Maldives Maine Research Institute, IUCN Maldives, and Maldives National University.
