Information session conducted on establishing a cooperative Society in R. Maduvvari

As part of the ‘Promotion of Blue Economy in the Fisheries Sector of the Maldives’ project, the Government of the Maldives and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) conducted an awareness session on establishing a cooperative society in R. Maduvvari.

The Women’s Development Committee of R. Maduvvari has expressed interest in establishing a cooperative society, and discussions have been held regarding its formation. Additionally, work has been carried out to draft the fundamental principles and operational regulations of the cooperative.

An information session was also conducted by the Maldives Food and Drug Authority to raise awareness of food safety regulations and quality control measures among those involved in home-based food production and sales.

The training programme began on 20 October 2024 and concluded on 24 October 2024 in R. Maduvvari.

The training was led by Deputy Director General Mr. Adam Manik from the Ministry.
