ދުނިޔޭގެ ކަނޑުތަކުގެ ޤާނޫނާއި އިންޑިއާ ކަނޑުގެ ސަރަޙައްދު ބެލެހެއްޓުމާގުޅޭ މަސައްކަތު ބައްދަލުވުމެއް މިއަދު ވިލާ ނޯޓިކާގައި މަސްވެރިކަމާއި ކަނޑުގެ ވަސީލަތްތަކާބެހޭ ވުޒާރާގެ ސްޓޭޓް މިނިސްޓަރ އަލްފާޟިލާ އާމިނަތު ޙުސައިން ޝަރީފް އިފްތިތާޙުކޮށްދެއްވައިފިއެވެ.

މި މަސައްކަތު ބައްދަލުވުމަކީ ނޯވޭޖިއަން އޭޖެންސީ ފޯ ޑިވެލޮޕްމެންޓް ކޯޕަރޭޝަންގެ އެހީގެ ދަށުން ހިންގާ ތަރައްޤީވަމުން އަންނަ ޤައުމުތަކުގެ އިޤުތިޞާދީ ވިލުންތެރިކަން އިތުރުކުރުމަށާއި އެ ޤައުމުތަކުގެ ކަނޑުގެ ސަރަޙައްދު ބެލެހެއްޓުމަށްޓުމުގެ  އިސްތިރާޖީ ޤާބިލުކަން ހަރުދަނާކުރުމުގެ މަޝްރޫޢެއްގެ ދަށުން އ. ދ. ގެ ޑިވިޝަން ފޯ އޯޝަން އެފެއާޒް އެންޑް ދަ ލޯ އޮފް ދަ ސީ އަދި ދިވެހި ސަރުކާރާ ގުޅިގެން އިންތިޒާމްކޮށްފައިވާ ހަތަރު ދުވަހުގެ ބައްދަލުވުމެކެވެ.

މި މަސައްކަތު ބައްދަލުވުމުގެ މަޤްޞަދަކީ ދުނިޔޭގެ ކަނޑުތަކުގެ ޤާނޫނު (އަންކްލޯސް) އާއި އެއާ ގުޅުންހުރި އެހެނިހެން މުޢާހަދާތަކާއި އެގްރިމެންޓްތަކަށް ބައިވެރިން އަހުލުވެރިކުރުވުމާއި، ސަރަޙައްދީ އަދި ޤައުމީ ފެންވަރުގައި ކަނޑުގެ ސަރަޙައްދު ބެލެހެއްޓުމުގެ ޤާނޫނީ އަދި އިދާރީ އޮނިގަނޑުތަކަށް އަލިއަޅުވާލުމެވެ. މީގެ އިތުރުން، 2030 އެޖެންޑާ ފޯ ސަސްޓެއިނަބަލް ޑިވެލޮޕްމަންޓްގެ ދެމެހެއްޓެނިވި ތަރައްޤީގެ ލަނޑުދަނޑިތައް (އެސް.ޑީ.ޖީ) އާ ގުޅުންހުރި މައްސަލަތަކާއި، ނޫ އިޤްތިޞާދެއް ބިނާކުރުމާ ގުޅޭ ގޮތުންނާއި، ސައިންސްގެ އަލީގައި ސިޔާސަތު ބައްޓަންކުރުމާ ގޫޅޭ ގޮތުން އަދި މޫސުމީ ބަދަލުތަކާ ގުޅިގެން ކަނޑުގެ ސަރަޙައްދު ބެލެހެއްޓުމުގައި އިސްކަންދޭން ޖެހޭ ކަންކަމާގުޅޭ ގޮތުން މި ބައްދަލުވުމުގައި މަޝްވަރާކުރެވިގެންދާނެއެވެ.

މި މަސައްކަތު ބައްދަލުވުން އިފްތިތާޙުކުރުމުގެ ރަސްމިއްޔާތުގައި ސަރަޙައްދީ އެއްބާރުލުމުގެ މުހިންމުކަން ފާހަގަކުރައްވައި ވާހަކަފުޅު ދައްކަވަމުން، ސްޓޭޓް މިނިސްޓަރ އަލްފާޟިލާ އާމިނަތު ޙުސައިން ޝަރީފް ވިދާޅުވީ އެއްވެސް ޤައުމަކަށް އެކަހެރިކޮށް ތިބެގެން، އެ ޤައުމެއްގެ ކަނޑުތަކުގެ ދުޅަހެޔޮކަން ރައްކާތެރި  ނުކުރެވޭނެކަމަށެވެ. ކަނޑުގެ ޤާނޫނުން އަޅުގަނޑުމެންނަށް މަދު ދައްކައިދިން ނަމަވެސް، ކުރިއަށް ދާންވީ ވަސީލަތްތައް ފޯރުކޮށްދެނީ ސަރަޙައްދީގޮތުން ލެވޭ އެއްބާރުލުން ކަމަށާއި، ކަނޑުގެ ސަރަޙައްދު ބެލެހެއްޓުމުގެ ޤައުމީ އޮނިގަނޑުތައް ދުނިޔޭގެ މިންގަނޑުތަކާ އެއްހަމަކޮށް، ސަރަޙައްދީ ފެންވަރުގައި ޤައުމުތައް ގުޅިގެން މަސައްކަތްކުރާނަމަ، މަސްމަހާމެހީގެ ސްޓޮކްތައް ރައްކާތެރިކޮށް، ކަނޑުގެ ދިރުންތަކުގެ ނަސްލު ހިމާޔަތްކޮށް، އަދި ދެމެހެއްޓެނިވި އިޤްތިޞާދެއް ޙާޞިލުކުރެވިދާނެކަމަށް ސްޓޭޓް މިނިސްޓަރ ފާހަގަކުރެއްވިއެވެ.

ދިވެހިރާއްޖެ ހިމެނޭގޮތަށް 12 މެމްބަރު ޤައުމަކުން 47 މަންދޫބުން މި ވަރކްޝޮޕްގައި ބައިވެރިވެފައިވެއެވެ. މި މަސައްކަތު ބައްދަލުވުމަށްފަހު، ދިވެހިރާއްޖޭގައި ޔުނައިޓެޑް ނޭޝަންސް ފިޝް ސްޓޮކްސް އެގްރީމެންޓް  (ޔޫ.އެން.އެފް.އެސް.އޭ) ތަންފީޛުކުރުމުގެ ޤާބިލުކަން އިތުރުކޮށް، ކަމާ ގުޅޭ އިދާރާތަކުގެ އޮފިޝަލުން ތަމްރީނުކުރުމަށްޓަކައި ތިން ދުވަހުގެ ޤައުމީ ވަރކްޝޮޕެއްވެސް ބޭއްވުމަށް ވަނީ ރޭވިފައެވެ. މި ތަމްރީނު ޕްރޮގްރާމުގައި ސަރަޙައްދީ މަސްވެރިކަން މެނޭޖްކުރާ ޖަމްޢިއްޔާތައް (އާރް.އެފް.އެމް.އޯ) މެދުވެރިކޮށް ކުރެވޭ މަސައްކަތްތަކާއި، ޤާނޫނާއި ގަވާއިދާ ޚިލާފަށް ރިޕޯޓުކުރުމެއް ނެތި އަދި ބެލެހެއްޓުމެއް ނެތި ކުރެވޭ (އައި.ޔޫ.ޔޫ) މަސްވެރިކަން ހުއްޓުވުމަށް އެޅިދާނެ ފިޔަވަޅުތަކުގެ އަލިއަޅުވާލެވިގެންދާނެއެވެ.

A workshop on the Law of the Sea and Ocean Governance for the Wider Indian Ocean Region was inaugurated today in Villa Nautica by the Minister of State of Fisheries and Ocean Resources, Ms. Aminath Hussain Shareef.

Organised by the Division for Ocean Affairs and the Law of the Sea (DOALOS) of the Office of Legal Affairs of the United Nations, in collaboration with the Government of Maldives, the workshop is implemented under the Division’s project 

“Strengthening the Strategic Capacity of Developing States in Ocean Governance and the Law of the Sea for Sustainable Ocean Economies”

, funded by the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (Norad).

The objective of this four-day workshop is to provide participants with an introduction to the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) and related instruments, as well as an overview of legal and institutional frameworks for ocean management at global, regional and national levels. Participants will also explore issues related to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, concepts of blue economy and ocean finance, and regional priorities such as ocean governance, the science-policy interface, and climate change.

Speaking at the inauguration, State Minister Aminath Hussain Shareef highlighted the importance of regional cooperation, stating:

“We know from experience that no nation, however committed, can secure the health of its waters in isolation. The law of the sea provides us with the compass; but it is the regional cooperation that provides us the vessel and means. When we align our national frameworks with global standards and act together at the regional and subregional level, we can protect migratory and straddling fish stocks, safeguard marine biodiversity, and unlock the promise of a truly sustainable blue economy.”

A total of 47 representatives from 12 Member States, including the Maldives, are participating in the workshop. The programme features sessions on UNCLOS, ocean governance frameworks, blue economy and finance, maritime security, and regional approaches to ocean affairs, along with exercises and discussions to foster peer learning among participants.

Following the regional workshop, a national workshop of three days will be held to strengthen the Maldives’ implementation of the United Nations Fish Stocks Agreement (UNFSA). This programme will provide Maldivian officials and stakeholders with a deeper understanding of the Agreement and the practical steps needed to fulfil national obligations, including cooperation through RFMOs, data exchange, and enforcement against IUU fishing.

މި އެއްބަސްވުމުގައި ސޮއިކުރުމުގެ ރަސްމިއްޔާތު ބޭއްވުނީ 18 ސެޕްޓެމްބަރ 2025 ވަނަ ދުވަހު މަސްވެރިކަމާބެހޭ ވުޒާރާގައެވެ. މަސްވެރިކަމާއި ކަނޑުގެ ވަސީލަތްތަކާއި ބެހޭ ވުޒާރާގެ ފަރާތުން ސޮއިކުރެއްވީ އަލްފާޟިލާ އީނާސް ނަޞީރު، ޑިރެކްޓަރ އަދި ފައިނޭންސް އެގްޒެކެޓިވް އަދި ޤައުމީ ޔުނިވަރސިޓީގެ ފަރާތުން ސޮއިކުރެއްވީ ވައިސް ޗާންސެލަރ ޑރ. އައިޝަތު ޝެހެނާޒް އާދަމެވެ.

މި އެއްބަސްވުމަކީ ވޯލްޑް ބޭންކުގެ ލޯނު އަދި ހިލޭއެހީގެ ދަށުން ހިންގާ ޓްރާންސްފޯމިންގ ފިޝަރީޒް ސެކްޓަރ މެނޭޖްމަންޓް އިން ދަ ސައުތު-ވެސްޓް އިންޑިއަން އޯޝަން ރީޖަން އަދި މޯލްޑިވްސް ޕްރޮޖެކްޓް (ޓްރާންސްފޯރމް ޕްރޮޖެކްޓް)ގެ ދަށުން ކުރިޔަށްގެންދާ ޕްރޮގްރާމެކެވެ. މި މަޝްރޫޢުގެ ދަށުން މީގެ ކުރިން ވަނީ  މަސްވެރިކަމާއި، މެރިކަލްޗަރ، އަކުއަކަލްޗަރ އަދި ދަނޑުވެރިކަމާ ގުޅޭ އެކި ދާއިރާތަކުން ރާއްޖެއިން ބޭރުގައި ކިޔެވުމަށް 17 ދިވެހި ދަރިވަރުންނަށް ސްކޮލަރޝިޕް ދީފައެވެ. 

މި ޕްރޮގްރާމް ފެށުމަށް ހަމަޖެހިފައިވަނީ ފިޝަރީޒް އެންޑް އެކުއާކަލްޗަރގެ ދާއިރާއިން އެއް އަހަރު ދުވަހުގެ ފައުންޑޭޝަން ޕްރޮގްރާމަކުންނެވެ. އޭގެ ފަހުން، ޑިޕްލޮމާ އަދި ބެޗްލާސް ޑިގްރީ ފުރިހަމަކުރެވޭނެއެވެ. މި ކޯހަކީ ކްލާސްރޫމް ތަޢުލީމާއި ޢަމަލީ ތަޖުރިބާ އެކުލެވޭ ފުލްޓައިމް ކޯހެކެވެ. ފައުންޑޭޝަން އަދި ޑިޕްލޮމާ ފެންވަރުގައި، ދަރިވަރުން ކިޔަވާނީ މައިގަނޑު 'ކޯރ' މޮޑިއުލްތަކެވެ. އެޑްވާންސްޑް ޑިޕްލޮމާ ފެންވަރުން ފެށިގެން މަތިން، ދަރިވަރުންނަށް އިޚްތިޔާރީ މާއްދާތައް ނުވަތަ 'އިލެކްޓިވްސް' ޚިޔާރުކުރުމުގެ ފުރުސަތު ލިބިގެންދާނެއެވެ.

މި ޕްރޮގްރާމްގައި ފިޝަރީޒް ސައިންސް އަދި އެކުއާކަލްރ ގެ ދާއިރާއިން ޚާއްސަ ވުމުގެ ފުރުސަތު ލިބިގެންދާނެއެވެ. އަދި ކޮންމެ ޕްރޮގްރާމެއް ނިމުމުން ދަރިވަރުންނަށް ޕްރޮގްރާމުން ވަކިވެ، ފުރިހަމަކޮށްފައިވާ ލެވެލްއަށް ސެޓްފިކެޓް ލިބުމުގެ އިޙްތިޔާރުވެސް އޮންނާނެއެވެ.

މި އެއްބަސްވުމުގެ ދަށުން ދިވެހިރާއްޖޭގެ ޤައުމީ ޔުނިވަރސިޓީއިން މި ޕްރޮގްރާމަށް މޯލްޑިވްސް ކޮލިފިކޭޝަންސް އޮތޯރިޓީ (އެމް.ކިއު.އޭ) ގެ މިންގަނޑުތަކާ އެއްގޮތްވާ ގޮތުގެ މަތިން ފުރިހަމަ މަންހަޖާއި ކޯސް މެޓީރިއަލްތައް ތައްޔާރުކުރުމަށް ވަނީ ހަމަޖެހިފައެވެ. މީގެ ތެރޭގައި ފިޝަރީޒް ސައިންސް، އެކުއާކަލްޗާ، ރިސޯސް މެނޭޖްމަންޓް، ކްލައިމެޓް ރެޒިލިއަންސް އަދި ސަސްޓެއިނަބިލިޓީ ފަދަ މޮޑިއުލްތައް ހިމެނެއެވެ.

މި މަސައްކަތް ނިންމުމަށް ކަނޑައެޅިފައިވާ މުއްދަތަކީ އެއްބަސްވުމުގައި ސޮއިކުރާ ތާރީޚުން ފެށިގެން 43 މަހެވެ. މި ކޯހުގެ މަންހަޖު ތައްޔާރުކޮށް ނިމުމުން، ކޯސް ހިންގުމަށް ވެސް ހަމަޖެހިފައިވަނީ މޯލްޑިވްސް ނޭޝަނަލް ޔުނިވާރސިޓީ އިންނެވެ. މި ކޯހުގައި ޓްރާންސްފޯމް މަޝްރޫޢުގެ ސްޕޮންސަރޝިޕް ގެ ދަށުން ކިޔެވުމުގެ ފުރުސަތު ރާއްޖެ އަދި ސައުތުވެސްޓް އިންޑިއަން އޯޝަން ރީޖަންގެ ގައުމުތަކުގެ ދަރިވަރުންނަށް ހުޅުވިގެންދާނެއެވެ.

The Ministry of Fisheries and Ocean Resources (MoFOR) and the Maldives National University (MNU) have signed a contract for the development of the curriculum for the Bachelors in Fisheries and Aquaculture course.

The signing ceremony was held on 18 September 2025 at the Ministry. Ms. Eenas Naseer, Director and Finance Executive, signed on behalf of the Ministry, while Dr. Aishath Shehenaz Adam, Vice Chancellor, signed on behalf of the Maldives National University.

This activity is made possible through the Transforming Fisheries Sector Management in the South-West Indian Ocean Region and Maldives Project (TransFORM Project), funded by the World Bank. The Project has previously awarded 17 scholarships to Maldivian students to pursue higher education abroad in a range of disciplines essential to fisheries, mariculture, aquaculture and agriculture development.

The contract will support the development of a Bachelor of Fisheries and Aquaculture program, creating new higher education opportunities in the field and strengthening national expertise in sustainable fisheries. The program will start with a one-year Foundation in Fisheries and Aquaculture, followed by a Diploma and finally bachelor’s degree. It is a full-time course that combines classroom learning with practical experience. At the Foundation and Diploma levels, students will study core modules, and from the Advanced Diploma level onwards, they can choose electives.

The program offers two study pathways: Fisheries Science and Aquaculture. Students also have the flexibility to exit the program at the end of each level and will receive a certificate for the level they have completed.

Under the contract, MNU will develop the full curriculum and course materials for the program in line with Maldives Qualifications Authority (MQA) standards, and deliver a complete package of modules covering fisheries science, aquaculture, resource management, climate resilience, and sustainability.

Following the development of the Course, MNU will implement the program which will be targeted to locals and participants from the South-West Indian Ocean Region Countries, on sponsorship basis from the project. The duration for the completion of this assignment is 43 months from the date of signing the contract.

މި ފަހުމުނާމާއަކީ ދެމެހެއްޓެނިވި ގޮތުގައި މަސްވެރިކަމުގެ ވަސީލަތްތައް ބޭނުންކުރުމަށާއި، ތިމާވެށި ރައްކާތެރިކުރުމަށް ދެ ޤައުމުން ކުރާ މަސައްކަތްތަކަށް ވެސް އެހީތެރިވެވޭނެ ފިޔަވަޅެކެވެ. މިގޮތުން ދެ ޤައުމުގެ މެދުގައި ހިއްސާކުރެވޭ މަޢުލޫމާތާއި ތަޖުރިބާގެ ސަބަބުން މަސްވެރިކަމުގެ ދާއިރާގައި ދިމާވާ ގޮންޖެހުންތަކަށް ހައްލު ހޯދުމަށް ފަސޭހަ ވެގެންދާނެއެވެ.

މިފަހުމުނާމާއަކީ ދިވެހިރާއްޖެ އާއި އިންޑިއާގެ މެދުގައި މަސްވެރިކަމުގެ ދާއިރާގައި އޮތް ގުޅުން އިތުރަށް ހަރުދަނާކޮށް، ދެ ޤައުމުގެ މަސްވެރިކަމުގެ ޞިނާޢަތު ކުރިއެރުވުމަށް އެޅޭ މުހިންމު ފިޔަވަޅެކެވެ. އަދި މީގެ ސަބަބުން ދެ ޤައުމުގެ މަސްވެރިކަމުގެ ދާއިރާއަށް ފައިދާކުރަނިވި ނަތީޖާތަކެއް ޙާޞިލުކުރެވި، ދެމެހެއްޓެނިވި ގޮތެއްގައި މި ދާއިރާ ކުރިއަރައިގެންދާނެކަމަށް އުންމީދުކުރެވެއެވެ.

The Ministry  and the Department of Fisheries under India’s Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to enhance bilateral collaboration in the fields of fisheries and aquaculture.

"ފްރޮމް މޯލްޑިވްސް" ގެ ނަމުގައި މަސްވެރިކަމުގެ އުފެއްދުންތަކަށް ޚާއްޞަ އައު ޤައުމީ ބްރޭންޑެއް ދިވެހި ސަރުކާރުން ތަޢާރަފުކޮށްފިއެވެ. މިއަދު އިނގިރޭސި ވިލާތުގައި ބޭއްވުނު ޔޫކޭ-މޯލްޑިވްސް ބިޒްނަސް ފޯރަމްގައި ރަސްމީކޮށް މި ބްރޭންޑް އިފްތިތާޙުކޮށްދެއްވީ ދިވެހިރާއްޖޭގެ ރައީސުލްޖުމްހޫރިއްޔާ ޑރ. މުޙައްމަދު މުޢިއްޒެވެ. މިއީ ދިވެހި މަސްވެރިކަމުގެ ސިނާޢަތް ބައިނަލްއަޤްވާމީ މައިދާނުގައި ތަމްސީލުކުރުމަށް ކުރެވޭ މަސައްކަތްތަކަށް ލިބުނު ފާހަގަކޮށްލެވޭ ކުރިއެރުމެކެވެ.

ރާއްޖޭގެ މަސްދޯނިފަހަރުގެ ބައްޓަމާއި، މަހުގެ އުފެއްދުންތަކާއި އަދި ޤުދުރަތީ މުއްސަނދިކަން ރަމްޒުކޮށްދޭ ލޯގޯއެއް އެކުލެވޭ މި ބްރޭންޑުން ދައްކުވައިދެނީ ދިވެހިރާއްޖޭގެ މަސްވެރިކަމުގެ ސިނާޢަތަކީ ތިމާވެށްޓާ ރައްޓެހި، ޓެކްނޮލޮޖީގެ ގޮތުން ކުރިއަރާފައިވާ، އިޖްތިމާޢީ ބައިވެރިވުން ހިމެނޭ އަދި ދުނިޔޭގެ ފެންވަރުގައި ވާދަކުރެވޭ ސިނާޢަތެއްކަމެވެ. އަދި މީގެ އިތުރުން، ކަނޑުގެ ވެއްޓާއި ދިވެހިންގެ ދިރިއުޅުމާ ދެމެދު ޒަމާނުއްސުރެ އޮތް ދެމެހެއްޓެނިވި ގުޅުމާއި، ދިވެހީންގެ އުފެއްދުންތެރިކަމާއި ސަޤާފީ މުއްސަނދިކަންވެސް މި ބްރޭންޑުން ދައްކުވައިދެއެވެ. އަދި ހަމައެއާއެކު، ދިވެހިރާއްޖޭގެ މަސްވެރިކަމުގެ ސިނާޢަތަކީ ދުނިޔޭގެ މަހުގެ ބާޒާރަށް އަންނަމުންދާ ބަދަލުތަކާ އެކު ތަރައްޤީވަމުންދާ، ބާޒާރުން ކަނޑައަޅާ މިންގަނޑުތައް ބަލައިގަންނަ ސިނާޢަތެއްކަންވެސް މި ބްރޭޑްގެ ޒަރިއްޔާއިން ރަމްޒުކޮށްދެއެވެ.

މި ބްރޭންޑް ތަޢާރަފުކުރުމަކީ ކަނޑުގެ ވަޞީލަތްތަކުން ދިވެހިންނަށް ލިބޭ ނަފާ އިތުރުކުރުމަށް ސަރުކާރުން ފުޅާދާއިރާއެއްގައި ކުރަމުންގެންދާ މަސައްކަތްތަކުގެ ތެރެއިން ފާހަގަކޮށްލެވޭ މުހިއްމު އެއް މަސައްކަތެވެ. އަދި މިއީ އަގުއެއްކުރި މަހާއި މަހުގެ އުފެއްދުންތައް ރާއްޖޭގައި ތައްޔާރުކޮށް، ބަންދުކުރުމުގެ ކެޕޭސިޓީ އިތުރުކުރުމަށާއި، އަދި ޕްރޮސެސްކުރުމުގެ އިތުރުން، މަސް ފިނިކޮށް، ރައްކާކުރުމުގެ ނިޒާމު އިތުރަށް ފުޅާކުރުމަށް ސަރުކާރުން ކުރަމުންގެންދާ މަސައްކަތްތަކަށްވެސް ލިބިގެންދާ ކުރިއެރުމެއްވެސް މެއެވެ. ރާއްޖޭގައި މަހުގެ އުފެއްދުންތައް ތައްޔާރުކުރާ އުފެއްދުންތެރިންނަށް ބައިނަލްއަގްވާމީ ބާޒާރުތަކުގައި ވާދަވެރިކަމާއެކު ބައިވެރިވުމުގެ މަގު އިތުރަށް ފަހިކުރުމަށް ތައްޔާރުކޮށްފައިވާ މި ބްރޭންޑަކީ ރައީސުލްޖުމްހޫރިއްޔާ އުފައްދަވައިފައިވާ މޯލްޑިވްސް ފިޝަރީސް އެންޑް އޯޝަން ރިސޯސަސް މާކެޓިންގ އެންޑް ޕްރޮމޯޝަން ކޯޕަރޭޝަން ގެ އުފެއްދުމެކެވެ.

The Government of Maldives has formally launched 

, a new national fisheries promotional brand, during an official event held today in London, United Kingdom. The launch was officiated by His Excellency Dr Mohamed Muizzu, President of the Republic of Maldives, and marks a significant advancement in how the country positions one of its most iconic sectors on the global stage.

Featuring a logo inspired by the traditional Maldivian fishing vessel design, the texture of fish, and the richness of the country’s marine life, the brand reflects a broader vision to transform the fisheries sector into one that is not only environmentally sustainable, but also technologically advanced, socially inclusive, and globally competitive. It symbolises the country's enduring connection to the ocean while embracing the tools and standards required to meet the demands of a rapidly changing market.

Under this initiative, the Maldives is expanding its processing capacity, investing in cold storage infrastructure, and modernising its fleet with energy-efficient vessels and digital monitoring systems. These upgrades are designed to strengthen traceability, improve catch quality, and enhance market access, particularly for premium and sustainability-conscious consumers.

The brand represents a key initiative of the Maldives Fisheries and Ocean Resources Marketing and Promotion Corporation, an entity established by the President to lead the promotion of Maldivian fisheries products.

‘From Maldives’: A New National Brand to Promote Fisheries Products.

ދުނިޔޭގެ ކަނޑުތަކުގެ ދުވަސް ފާހަގަކުރުމަށްޓަކައި މަސްވެރިކަމާ ކަނޑުގެ ވަސީލަތްތަކާ ބެހޭ ވުޒާރާއިން " މޫދު ފެސްޓް" ގެ ނަމުގައި ގިނަ ހަރަކާތްތަކެއް ހިންގުމަށް ވަނީ ހަމަޖެހިފައެވެ. މި ހަރަކާތްތައް ކުރިއަށް ދާނީ ޖޫން މަހުގެ 21 ވަނަ ދުވަހު ހުޅުމާލޭ ފޭސް 1ގެ (ދިރާގު) ގޮނޑުދޮށުގައެވެ. މި ހަރަކާތްތައް މެންދުރު 1 ފެށިގެން ހަވީރު 5 އާއި ހަމައަށް ކުރިއަށް ގެންދިއުމަށް ވަނީ ރާވާފައެވެ.

" މޫދު ފެސްޓް" ގައި ކަނޑާ ގުޅޭ އެކިއެކި ހަރަކާތްތައް ބޭއްވުމަށް ގިނަ ސްޓޯލްތަކެއް ހުންނާނެއެވެ. މި ފެސްޓިވަލްގައި މަސްވެރި ވުޒާރާއާއި ސަރުކާރުގެ އިދާރާތަކާއި ވިޔަފާރިތަކާއި ތިމާވެށި ދާއިރާގެ އެންޖީއޯތަކާއި ކާބޯތަކެތި ވިއްކާ ފަރާތްތައް ބައިވެރިވާނެއެވެ. މި ހަރަކާތްތަކުގައި ކަނޑުތައް ހިމާޔަތްކުރުމުގެ މުހިންމުކަމާއި ދެމެހެއްޓެނިވި ގޮތެއްގައި ކަނޑު ބޭނުންކުރުމާއި ގުޅޭގޮތުން މައުލޫމާތު ދިނުމަށް ވަނީ ހަމަޖެހިފައެވެ. އަދި މީގެ އިތުރުން ކުޑަކުދިންނަށް ޚާއްސަކޮށް އެކިއެކި ކުޅިވަރުތައް ބޭއްވުމަށް ވެސް ވަނީ ރާވާފައެވެ.  

"މޫދު ފެސްޓް" ފެށިގެންދާނީ ޑައިވް ސެންޓަރުތަކާއި ގުޅިގެން ކުރިއަށްގެންދާ ޑިސްކަވާ ޑައިވް ހަރަކާތުންނެވެ. މި ހަރަކާތަކީ ކުޑަކުދިންނަށް ޑައިވްކުރުން ތަޖުރިބާ ކުރުމަށް ހިންގާ ހަރަކާތެކެވެ. މި އިވެންޓް ނިމުމުން ހުރިހާ ބައިވެރިންނަށާއި އެހީތެރިވި ފަރާތްތަކަށް ހަނދާނީ ސެޓްފިކެޓް ދިނުމަށް ވަނީ ހަމަޖެހިފައެވެ.

ދެމެހެއްޓެނިވިގޮތެއްގައި ކުދި ފަންތީގެ މަސްވެރިކަން ރާވައި، ހިންގާ، ބެލެހެއްޓުމަށް ކުރެވެމުންދާ މަސައްކަތްތައް ހިއްސާ ކުރުމަށާއި ކުދިފަންތީގެ މަސްވެރިކަމުގައި ޙަރަކާތްތެރިވާ ފަރާތްތައް ބާރުވެރިކުރުވުމަށް ކުރެވިދާނެ ކަންކަމާގުޅޭ ޚާއްޞަ ސައިޑް އިވެންޓެއް ދިވެހިރާއްޖެއިން އިސް ނަގައިގެން ޔުނައިޓެޑް ނޭޝަން އޯޝަންސް ކޮންފަރެންސްގެ 3 ވަނަ ބައްދަލުވުމުގައި އިއްޔެ ބާއްވައިފިއެވެ.

މި ސެޝަންގައި ސަރުކާރުތަކުންނާއި ސަރަޙައްދީ އަދި ބައިނަލްއަޤްވާމީ ފަރާތްތަކުން ދެމެހެއްޓެނިވި ގޮތެއްގައި ކުދި  ފަންތީގެ މަސްވެރިކަން ރާވައި، ހިންގާ، ބެލެހެއްޓުމަށް ކުރަމުންދާ މަސައްކަތްތަކާ ގުޅޭ ކޭސް ސްޓަޑީސްތައް ހިއްސާކޮށްފައިވެއެވެ. އަދި މި ތަޖުރިބާގެ އަލީގައި، އެހެން ޤައުމުތަކަށް ވެސް އެޅިދާނެ ފިޔަވަޅުތަކާމެދު މަޝްވަރާކޮށްފައިވެއެވެ.

މި ސެޝަންގައި ވާހަކަފުޅު ދައްކަވަމުން މަސްވެރިކަމާއި ކަނޑުގެ ވަސީލަތްތަކާ ބެހޭ ވަޒީރު އަޙްމަދު ޝިޔާމް ވިދާޅުވީ ކުދި ފަންތީގެ މަސްވެރިކަން ތަރައްޤީކުރުމާއި އެ މަސްވެރިކަމަށް އިންވެސްޓްކުރުމާ ގުޅޭ ގޮތުން ބައިނަލްއަޤްވާމީ މައިދާންތަކުގައި އަޑުއުފުލަންޖެހޭ ކަމަށެވެ. އެހެން ނަމަވެސް ކުދިފަންތީގެ މަސްވެރިކަމުގެ ވާހަކަ އަންނަނީ ބައިނަލްއަޤްވާމީ މިފަދަ މަޝްވަރާތަކުގެ ހަވާސާގައި ކަމަށާއި، ކުދިފަންތީގެ މަސްވެރިކަން ކުރާ ފަރާތްތައް ތިބީ ސިޔާސަތުތަކާއި އިންވެސްޓްމަންޓާއި، އިނޮވޭޝަންގެ މާ ފަހަތުގައިކަން ފާހަގަ ކުރައްވައި، ވަޒީރު ވިދާޅުވީ މިކަން ބަދަލުވާން ޖެހޭ ކަމަށެވެ. އަދި ސައިންސާއި ޓެކްނޮލޮޖީގެ އަލީގައި މި މަސްވެރިކަން ތަރައްޤީކުރުމަށް ރާއްޖެއިން ކުރާ މަސައްކަތްތަކަށްވެސް ވަޒީރުގެ ވާހަކަފުޅުގައި އަލިއަޅުއްވާލެއްވިއެވެ.

މި ބައްދަލުވުމުގައި ބައިވެރިވެވަޑައިގެންނެވި އިންޑޮނޭޝިއާގެ ޑިރެކްޓަރ ޖެނެރަލް އޮފް ކެޕްޗަރ ފިޝަރީޒް (ނަން) ވަނީ އަވައްޓެރި އިންޑޮނޭޝިއާގައި މަސްވެރިކަން ކުރަމުން އަންނަ ގޮތް ހިއްސާކުރައްވާފައެވެ. އަދި އެ ޤައުމުން ކޯޓާ ބަހައިގެން މަސްވެރިކަން ކުރާ ގޮތާއި، މަސްލަހަތުވެރިންގެ ބައިވެރިވުން އިތުރުކޮށްގެން އަދި ބައިނަލްއަޤްވާމީ ފަރާތްތަކާ ގުޅިގެން ނޫ އިޤްތިޞާދު ކުރިއަރުވަމުންދާ ގޮތް ލަތީފް ހިއްސާ ކުރައްވާފައިވެއެވެ. އަދި އެކަން ކުރެވެމުންދަނީ ސައިންސްގެ އަލީގައިކަމަށާއި، ދެފުށް ފެންނަ ވަރުގަދަ ނިޒާމުތަކެއްގެ މައްޗަށް ބިނާކޮށްކަމަށް އޭނާ ވިދާޅުވި އެވެ.

މަސްވެރިކަމާއި ކަނޑުގެ ވަސީލަތްތަކާ ބެހޭ ވުޒާރާގެ ޑިރެކްޓަރ ޖެނެރަލް ޑރ. ޙުސައިން ސިނާން ދިވެހިރާއްޖޭގެ ކަނޑުމަހުގެ މަސްވެރިކަން ރާވައި، ހިންގުމުގައި ދައުލަތުން ކުރަމުންގެންދާ މަސައްކަތްތަކަށް މި ސެޝަންގައި އަލިއަޅުއްވާލައްވައިފައިވެއެވެ. އަދި މި މަސައްކަތްތައް ކުރިއަށް ގެންދިޔުމުގައި ދެމެހެއްޓެނިވި މަސްވެރިކަމުގެ އުސޫލުތަކަށާއި ހަމަހަމަކަމަށް އިސްކަންދޭ މިންވަރު ޑރ. ސިނާންގެ ވާހަކަފުޅުގައި ފާހަގަކުރެއްވިއެވެ. އަދި މަހުގެ ބައިނަލްއަޤްވާމީ މާކެޓްތަކަށް ވަނުމުގެ ފުރުސަތުތައް ފަހިކުރުމަށް ކުރެވެމުންދާ މަސައްކަތްތަކާއި ކުދި ފަންތީގެ މަސްވެރިކަމުން ލިބޭ ނަފާ މުޅި މުޖުތަމަޢަށް ބެހިގެންދާނެ ފަދަ ގޮތަކަށް މަސްވެރިކަން މެނޭޖްކުރުމަށް ކުރެވެމުންދާ މަސައްކަތްތައް ފާހަގަކުރެއްވިއެވެ.

މަސްވެރިކަމުގެ ތަފާސް ހިސާބުގެ މުހިންމުކަން ފާހަގަކުރައްވަމުން، ޑރ. ސިނާނު ވިދާޅުވީ 1950 ގެ އަހަރުތަކުން ފެށިގެން ދިވެހިރާއްޖޭގައި އެއްކޮށް، ބަލަހައްޓަމުން އަންނަ މަސްވެރިކަމުގެ ތަފާސް ހިސާބު ޑިޖިޓައިޒް ކުރުމަށް މިހާރު ގިނަ މަސައްކަތްތަކެއް ކުރެވެމުން އަންނަ ކަމަށެވެ. އަދި މި މިކަމަކީ ދިވެހިރާއްޖޭގައި ޒިންމާދާރު ގޮތެއްގައި ކުރެވޭ ކަނޑުމަހުގެ މަސްވެރިކަން ދެމެހެއްޓެނިވި ގޮތެއްގައި މެނޭޖްކުރުމަށްޓަކައި އެޅޭ މުހިއްމު ފިޔަވަޅެއްކަން ޑރ. ސިނާން ފާހަގަކުރެއްވިއެވެ.

މި ބައްދަލުވުމުގައި ވާހަކަދައްކަވަމުން މެރިން ބައޮލޮޖިސްޓެއް ކަމަށްވާ ޑރ. ލިލިއަން ޖޭ. އިބެންގްވެ ޓެންޒޭނިއާގެ ކުދިފަންތީގެ މަސްވެރިކަމުގެ ތަޖުރިބާ ހިއްސާކުރައްވާފައިވެއެވެ. ޓެންޒޭނިއާއަކީ ދުނިޔޭގައި އެންމެ ފުރަތަމަ ކުދި މަސްވެރިކަމަށް ޤައުމީ ޢަމަލީ ޕްލޭނެއް (ނެޝަނަލް ޕްލޭން އޮފް އެކްޝަން) އެކުލަވާލި ޤައުމެވެ. މި އެން.ޕީ.އޯ.އޭ (ނެޝަނަލް ޕްލޭން އޮފް އެކްޝަން) ގެ ސަބަބުން މަސްވެރިކަމުގެ ސިޔާސަތު އެކުލަވައިލުމުގައްޔާއި މަސްވެރިކަން ބެލެހެއްޓުމުގައި މަސްލަހަތުވެރިންގެ ބައިވެރިވުން ޔަޤީންކުރެވި، އެފަރާތްތައް ބާރުވެރިކުރެވޭކަން ޑރ. ލިލިއަން ފާހަގަކުރެއްވިއެވެ. އަދި ކާބޯތަކެތީގެ ޖަމުޢިއްޔާ، އެފް.އޯ.އިން ތައްޔާރުކޮށްފައިވާ އެސް.އެސް.އެފް (ސްމޯލް-ސްކޭލް ފިޝަރީޒް) ގައިޑްލައިންތައް ފުރިހަމައަށް ތަންފީޛުކުރުމަށް އެ އެން.ޕީ.އޯ.އޭ ބާރަކަށްވާކަމަށް ވެސް އޭނާ ފާހަގަކުރެއްވިއެވެ.

ރާއްޖެއިން އިސްނަގައިގެން ބޭއްވި މި ބައްދަލުވުމުގައި ޤައުމުތަކުގެ އިތުރުން ސަރަޙައްދީ ޖަމުޢިއްޔާތަކުންވެސް ބައިވެރިވެފައިވެއެވެ. މިގޮތުން ބޭ އޮފް ބެންގޯލް ޕްރޮގްރާމް - އިންޓަރގަވަރމެންޓަލް އޯގަނައިޒޭޝަން (ބީއޯބީޕީ-އައިޖީއޯ) ގެ ޑިރެކްޓަރ، ޑރ. ކްރިޝްނަން، ސަރަޙައްދީ ފެންވަރުގައި ކުދިފަންތީގެ މަސްވެރިކަން ތަރައްޤީކޮށް ބާރުވެރިކުރުމަށް ކުރެވިދާނެ ކަންކަން ހިއްސާކުރެއްވިއެވެ. އަދި  ބީއޯބީޕީ-އައިޖީއޯގެ އެންމެހައި މެންބަރު ޤައުމުތަކުގައި ކުދި ފަންތީގެ މަސްވެރިކަމަށް ޤައުމީ ޢަމަލީ ޕްލޭންތައް އެކުލަވާލުމަށް އެހީތެރިވެދޭނެ ކަމަށް އިޢުލާންކުރެއްވިއެވެ.

ރާއްޖޭގެ 99 އިންސައްތައަށް ވުރެ ބޮޑު ސަރަހައްދަކީ މޫދާއި ކަނޑަށް ވާއިރު، އަޅުގަނޑުމެންގެ ޢިޤްތިޞާދީ ނާރެސް އޭގެ މައްޗަށް ބިނާވެފައިވާ އެންމެ މުހިއްމު ވަސީލަތަކީ ކަނޑެވެ. މިއަދު ދުނިޔޭގެ ކަނޑުތަކުގެ ދުވަސް ފާހަގަކުރާއިރު، ކަނޑުގެ ވެއްޓާއި އެމާހައުލުގައި އުޅޭ ދިރުންތަކަކީ ދިވެހިންގެ ދިރިއުޅުމާއި ގުޅިލާމެހިފައިވާ އަޅުގަނޑުމެން ބަނޑުފުރާ މުއްތިކުރުމަށާއި އާމްދަނީ ހޯދުމަށް ޤުދުރަތުން ދެއްވާފައިވާ އެންމެ ބޮޑު  ނިޢުމަތްކަމީ ދެބަސްވެވޭނެ ކަމެއް ނޫނެވެ. ޒަމާނުންސުރެ ދިވެހިންނަކީ ކަނޑުގެ ވެއްޓާއި ރައްޓެހި ކަނޑުރޯދި ހޯދުމަށް ކަނޑުގެ ވަސީލަތް ހެޔޮގޮތުގައި ބޭނުންކުރުމަށް ހާއްސަ ސަމާލުކަމެއް ދޭ ބައެކެވެ. ރާއްޖޭގެ މަސްވެރިކަމަށް ބަލާލިޔަސް ތިމާވެއްޓާ ރައްޓެހި ގޮތުގައި ކުރެވޭ މަސްވެރިކަމެއް އެތައް ޤަރުނައެއް ވަންދެން ދަމަހައްޓައި ޒަމާނާ އެއްގޮތަށް ތަރައްޤީކުރެވިފައި އޮތްއޮތުމަކީ، އެކަމަށް ދިވެހިން ހާއްސަ ސަމާލުކަމެއް ދީފައިވާކަން ރަމްޒުކޮށްދޭކަމެކެވެ. އެހެންކަމުން، ކަނޑުގެ މާހައުލާއި ވަށައިގެންވާ ވެށި އަދި އެވެށީގެ ދިރުންތައް ރައްކާތެރިކޮށް ބެލެހެއްޓުމާއެކު، އަންނަން އޮތް ޖީލުތަކަށް އޭގެ ދުޅަހެޔޮކަންމަތީ ފޯރުކޮށް ދިނުމަކީ މިއަދު އަޅުގަނޑުމެންގެ އެންމެންގެ ޒިންމާއެކެވެ.

ދިވެހިރާއްޖޭގެ މަސްވެރިކަން ތަރައްޤީކުރުމަށް މިއިން ދުވަހަކު ނުކުރާ މިންވަރަށް މަސައްކަތް ކުރަމުންދާއިރު، އަޅުގަނޑުމެންނަށް އޮތް އެންމެ ބޮޑު އެއް ގޮންޖެހުމަކީ މޫސުމަށް އަންނަ ބަދަލުތަކާއިއެކު ކަނޑުގެ ވެއްޓަށްކުރާ ނޭދެވޭ އަސަރު ތަކެވެ. މިގޮތުން، މޫސުމަށް އަންނަ ބަދަލުތަކާ ގުޅިގެން ކަނޑުގެ ލޮނުގަނޑު ހޫނުވުމުގެ ސަބަބުން ކަނޑުމަހުގެ ބާވަތްތައް ދުރު ސަރަޙައްދުތަކަށް އަދި ކަނޑުގެ ފުން ހިސާބުތަކަށް ހިޖުރަކުރެއެވެ. ނަތީޖާއަކީ، އަޅުގަނޑުމެން ދޮށްޓާއި އަތުނަނު ބޭނުންކޮށްގެން ކަނޑުގެ މަތީ ފަށަލައިން މިކުރާ މަސްވެރިކަމަށް އޭގެ ނޭދެވޭ އަސަރުކޮށް މަސްވެރިކަމުގެ ނުމޫސުން ދިގުވެ އޭގެ ނޭދެވޭ އަސަރު ސިނާޢަތަށް ކުރަމުންދިއުމެވެ.   

މޫސުމީގޮތުން ދިމާވަމުންދާ ގޮންޖެހުންތަކަކީ ދުނިޔޭގެ ފެންވަރުގައި މަސައްކަތްތަކެއް ކުރެވިގެން މެނުވީ ހައްލު ކުރެވޭނެ މައްސަލައަކަށް ނުވާ އިރު، ބަވަނަ ވަމުންދާ އަދުގެ ދުނިޔޭގައި މިކަމަށް އަވަސް ހައްލެއް ގެނައުމަށް ހުރި ގޮންޖެހުންތައް ގިނަގުނައެވެ. އެހެންކަމުން، މޫސުމީ ބަދަލުތަކަށް ހޭނި އެކަމުން ލިބޭ ގެއްލުން ކުޑަކުރުމަށް ފިޔަވަޅުތައް ގައުމީ ފެންވަރުގައިވެސް އަޅައި ދުރާލައި ތައްޔާރުވާންޖެހެއެވެ. އަޅުގަނޑުމެންގެ ކަނޑުގެ މާހައުލު ރައްކާތެރިކޮށް ބެލެހެއްޓުމުގެ ފަރުދީ ޒިންމާ އަދާކުރުމާއެކު، ކަނޑުގެ ވަސީލަތްތައް ބޭނުންކުރުމުގައި ނޫއިޤްތިޞާދު އެއީ ނާރެހެއްކަމުގައި ބަލައި ކަނޑުން ލިބޭ ނަފާ އިތުރުކުރުމަށް ގުޅިފައިވާ ސިނާޢަތްތައް ސިންދަފާތުކުރަންޖެހެއެވެ.

ޔޫއެން ޑެކޭޑް އޮފް އޯޝަން ސައިންސް ފޯ ސަސްޓެއިނަބަލް ޑިވެލޮޕްމަންޓްގެ ގޮތުގައި މި ގުނޭ އަހަރުތައް މި ފާހަގަކުރެވެނީ ކަނޑުތައް ރައްކާތެރިކޮށް ބެލެހެއްޓުމުގައި ފުރިހަމަ ސައިންޓިފިކް މަޢުލޫމާތު ހޯދުމަށް މުޅި ދުނިޔެއިން މަސައްކަތްކުރާ އަހަރުތަކެއްގެ ގޮތުގައެވެ. އޯޝަން ޑެކޭޑްގެ ދަށުން ކަނޑައަޅާފައިވާ ލަނޑުދަނޑިތައް ހާސިލްކުރުމަށް ކަނޑު، ފަޅާއި، ފަރު އަދި މި މާހައުލުތަކުގެ ދިރުންތަކާގުޅޭ ދިރާސާތައް ކުރުމާއި، އެކަމަށް ބޭނުންވާ މީހުން ބިނާކުރުމާއި، އައު ޓެކްނޮލޮޖީ އީޖާދުކޮށް ތަޢާރުފުކުރުން ފަދަ ކަންތައްތަކަށް އިސްކަންދީގެން މަސައްކަތްތަކެއް މިދަނީ ކުރަމުންނެވެ. އަދި ރައީސުލް ޖުމްހޫރިއްޔާ ޑރ. މުޙައްމަދު މުއިއްޒު ގައުމާއި މުޙާތަބްކުރައްވައި ދެއްވި އެންމެ ފުރަތަމަ ތަގްރީރުގައިވެސް ސަރުކާރުގެ އަސާސްތައް ބިނާވެގެންވަނީ ދިރާސާތަކުގެ އަލީގައި ކަން ފާހަގަކުރައްވާފައިވުމަކީ މިކަމަށް ބާރު ދޭ ކަމެކެވެ.

 ކަނޑުގެ މައްޗަށް ބަރޯސާވެފައިވާ މުހިއްމު ސިނާޢަތްތައްކަމުގައި މަސްވެރިކަމާއި، ފަތުރުވެރިކަން އަދި ކަނޑުގެ މާހައުލުތައް ރައްކާތެރިކޮށް ބެލެހެއްޓުމަށް މަސައްކަތްކުރާ ފަރާތްތަކުން ކަނޑުތަކުގެ ދުޅަހެޔޮކަމާއި ދިރުންތައް ރައްކާތެރިކުރުމާބެހޭ މުހިއްމު މަޢުލޫމާތު އެއްކޮށް، އެމަޢުލޫމާތު ބަދަލުކުރެވޭނެ ރަނގަޅު ނިޒާމެއް ޤާއިމްކުރުމަކީ ކޮންމެހެން މުހިއްމުކަމެކެވެ. އަދި މިއީ، ކަނޑުގެ މާހައުލު ބެލެހެއްޓުމުގައްޔާއި ކަނޑުގެ ވަސީލަތްތައް ދެމެހެއްޓެނިވި ގޮތެއްގައި ބޭނުންކުރުމަށް ފިޔަވަޅުތައް އެޅުމުގައި މުހިއްމު ދައުރެއް އަދާކުރާނެ ވަސީލަތަކަށް ވާނެކަމާމެދު ޝައްކެއް ނެތެވެ. އަޅުގަނޑުގެ ދުޢާއަކީ ރައީސުލްޖުމްހޫރިއްޔާ ޑރ. މުޙައްމަދު މުޢިއްޒު ކަނޑާއި ކަނޑުގެ ވަސީލަތްތައް ރާވައި، ހިންގައި ބެލެހެއްޓުމަށް ކަނޑައަޅާފައިވާ ސިޔާސަތުތަކާއި، އެ ސިޔާސަތުތަކުގެ ދަށުން ކުރަމުންދާ މަސައްކަތްތައް ކާމިޔާބުކޮށްދެއްވާ، ކަނޑުފަޅުތަކުން ދިވެހިންނަށް ލިބެމުންދާ ނަފާ ދިގުމުއްދަތަކަށް ދެމިގެން ދިއުމެވެ.

The Maldives is a nation defined by the ocean. With more than 99% of our territory consisting of the sea, our identity, economy, and way of life are inextricably tied to the marine environment. On this World Oceans Day, we celebrate the ocean as our most vital natural resource - one that sustains our communities, drives our economy, and shapes the lives of all Maldivians.

For generations, the Maldivian people have nurtured a deep connection with the ocean, practicing sustainable and environmentally conscious fishing that reflects a profound respect for nature. Our longstanding use of traditional, low-impact methods of fishing, such as the use of pole-and-line and handline, adapted over centuries and refined through modern innovation, demonstrates this commitment. As custodians of the ocean, it is our collective responsibility to safeguard its health and the biodiversity it supports for future generations.

Today, as we strive to transform and expand the fisheries sector to new heights, we are confronted by unprecedented challenges; chief among them, the impacts of climate change. Rising ocean temperatures have altered the migratory patterns of tuna, driving them further offshore and into deeper waters. This shift significantly reduces the effectiveness of our traditional fishing practices that target surface swimming tuna, leading to prolonged off-seasons and adversely affecting livelihoods across the nation.

Addressing the climate crisis requires a global response. Yet we must also take action at home; strengthening our resilience, investing in adaptation, and preparing proactively for change. At the same time, we must diversify our ocean-based economy, tapping into new opportunities through a blue economy approach that prioritises sustainability, equity, and innovation.

The United Nations Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development represents a global effort to bridge knowledge gaps and advance the scientific understanding necessary for effective ocean management. The Maldives is proud to support this global effort. We are working to enhance marine research, build national capacity, and develop technologies that support sustainable management of our lagoons, reefs, and wider ocean ecosystems.

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has placed science and evidence-based policy at the heart of his governance agenda. Under his leadership, we are building systems to improve the collection, exchange, and use of ocean data across all marine sectors; including fisheries, tourism, and conservation. These efforts are fundamental to ensuring the long-term health of our marine environment and the sustainability of the resources it provides.

As we mark this World Oceans Day, I reaffirm the Maldives’ unwavering commitment to the protection, sustainable use, and equitable management of our ocean resources. May the efforts and policies of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu continue to ensure that the benefits we derive from our seas are preserved and enjoyed for generations to come.

މި އެއްބަސްވުމުގެ ދަށުން، މަސްވެރިންގެ ދަފްތަރުގައި ރަޖިސްޓްރީކޮށްފައިވާ މަސްވެރިންނަށް އެ ފަރާތްތަކުގެ އާމްދަނީއަށް ބަލައި، ޕާސަނަލް ފައިނޭންސިންގ، ކްރެޑިޓް ކާޑު، ސްޓޫޑެންޓް ލޯން އަދި ގެދޮރު ލޯނު ފަދަ އެކި ބާވަތުގެ ކްރެޑިޓް ފެސިލިޓީތަކަށް ވާޞިލުވުމުގެ ފުރުޞަތު ލިބިގެންދާނެއެވެ. މި އައު އިންތިޒާމުގެ ދަށުން، ޝަރުޠު ހަމަވާ މަސްވެރިންނަށް ރަހުނެއް ނުވަތަ އިކުއިޓީ އަކާނުލައި 300,000 ރުފިޔާއާ ހަމައަށް ޕާސަނަލް ފައިނޭންސިންގ ލިބޭނެއެވެ. އަދި ފުރަތަމަ ފަހަރަށް، މޫސުމާއިއެކު މަސްވެރިކަމުގެ އާމްދަނީއަށް އަންނަ ބަދަލުތަކަށް ރިޢާޔަތްކޮށް ފައިސާ އަނބުރާ ދެއްކުމުގެ ތާވަލުތައް އެކުލަވާލެވޭނެއެވެ.

ޕާސަނަލް ފައިނޭންސިންގ އަދި ލުއި ލޯނަށް އެދި ހުށަހެޅުމުގެ ފުރުޞަތު ބޭންކުގެ އިންޓަނެޓް ނުވަތަ މޮބައިލް ބޭންކިންގ އެޕްލިކޭޝަން މެދުވެރިކޮށް ލިބެން ހުންނާނެއެވެ. މިކަމުގެ ސަބަބުން ދިވެހިރާއްޖޭގެ ކޮންމެ ހިސާބަކުން ވެސް މަސްވެރިންނަށް މި ޚިދުމަތަށް އެދި ހުށަހެޅުމުގެ ފުރުޞަތު ލިބިގެންދާނެއެވެ.

ޕާސަނަލް ފައިނޭންސިންގގެ އިތުރުން، ޤައުމީ މަސްވެރިންގެ ދަފްތަރުގައި ރަޖިސްޓްރީ ކުރުމަށްފަހު، މަސްވެރިންނަށް ހޯމް ޕާޗޭސް ފައިނޭންސިންގ، ހޯމް ބިލްޑް ފައިނޭންސިންގ އަދި ހޯމް ކޮންސްޓްރަކްޝަން ލޯނަށް ވެސް އެދި ހުށަހެޅުމުގެ ފުރުޞަތު ލިބިގެންދާނެއެވެ. މި އިތުރު ފުރުޞަތުތަކުގެ ސަބަބުން، މަސްވެރިންނަށް އެ ފަރާތްތަކުގެ ދިރިއުޅުމުގެ ފެންވަރު މަތިކޮށް، އަމިއްލަ ގެދޮރު ގަތުމާއި އިމާރާތްކުރުމުގެ ހުވަފެން ޙަޤީޤަތަކަށް ހެދުމަށް މަގުފަހިވެގެންދާނެއެވެ.

The Ministry of Fisheries and Ocean Resources  signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Bank of Maldives (BML) today, Implementing  the President's policy to integrate fishermen by establishing financial pathways allowing them better opportunities to obtain loans and other financial services. The MoU seek to  recognise fishing as a profession and integrate fishermen into the banking credit rating system.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by The Minister of Fisheries and Ocean Resources, Ahmed Shiyam, and Mr. Mohamed Shareef, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of the Bank of Maldives.

Briefing to the media at the ceremony, Minister highlighted that the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed with the Bank of Maldives (BML) will provide fishermen registered in the National Fishermen’s Registry access to various credit facilities. These include personal financing, credit cards, and home loans, with flexible repayment structures.

Further more  registered fishermen in the National Fishermen's Registry will be able to secure personal financing of up to MVR 300,000 without requiring collateral or equity, with repayment schedules designed to accommodate seasonal fluctuations in fishing income.

In additionally, registered fishermen will be eligible for home purchase financing, home build financing, and home construction loans, allowing them to enhance their standard of living and achieve homeownership.

Applications for financing and loans will be available online via the Bank’s official website and mobile banking platforms, ensuring accessibility from any location across the Maldives.

These new financing options will create pathways for fishermen to improve their livelihoods.

ދިވެހިރާއްޖެއާއި ޗައިނާ ދެމެދު ސޮއިކޮށްފައިވާ މިނިވަން ވިޔަފާރީގެ އެއްބަސްވުން 1 ޖަނަވަރީ 2025ން ފެށިގެން ތަންފީޒުކުރަން ފަށާ ފެށުމަށް މަސްވެރިކަމާއި ކަނޑުގެ ވަސީލަތްތަކާ ބެހޭ ވުޒާރާއިން މަރުހަބާ ކިޔަމެވެ. މި އެއްބަސްވުމަކީ ދިވެހިރާއްޖެއާއި ޗައިނާއާ ދެމެދު އޮތް އިޤްތިޞާދީ ގުޅުން ރަމްޒުކޮށް ދޭ މުހިންމު މޭލުގާއެކެވެ. މި އެއްބަސްވުމުގެ ސަބަބުން މަސްވެރިކަމުގެ ދާއިރާގެ ވުނަކުރުންތަކަށް ފުރުސަތު ހުޅުވި ދިވެހިރާއްޖޭގެ މަހުގެ އުފެއްދުންތަކުގެ ވިޔަފާރި ކުރިއަރައިގެން ދާނެއެވެ. މިނިވަން ވިޔަފާރި އެއްބަސްވުމުގެ މައިގަނޑު މަޤްޞަދުތަކަކީ އެކްސްޕޯޓް އިތުރުކުރުމާއި، ވިޔަފާރީގެ ހުރަސްތައް މަދުކުރުމާއި، އަދި ދިވެހިރާއްޖެއާއި ޗައިނާގެ ވިޔަފާރިތަކަށް އައު ފުރުސަތުތަކެއް އުފައްދާ ފަހިކޮށް ދިނުމެވެ.

ދިވެހިރާއްޖޭގެ މަސްވެރިކަމުގެ ހުރިހާ އުފެއްދުންތަކެއް ހެން، މި އެއްބަސްވުމުގެ ދަށުން، ޗައިނާއަށް ސުން ޓެކުހުގައި އެކްސްޕޯޓު ކުރެވެއެވެ. އަދި މަހުގެ އުފެއްދުންތައް ރިއެކްސްޕޯޓް ކުރުމަށްވެސް މަގުފަހިވެގެންދާނެއެވެ. މިކަމުގެ ސަބަބުން ޗައިނާގެ ވިޔަފާރިތަކަށް ދިވެހިރާއްޖެއިން ކަނޑުކާނާ (ސީފުޑު) ހޯދުމަށް ފަސޭހަ ވެގެން ދާނެއެވެ .29 އޮކްޓޯބަރ 2024 ގައި ޗައިނާއާއި ދިވެހިރާއްޖެއިން ސޮއިކުރި ގުދުރަތީ ކަނޑުގެ އުފެއްދުންތައް ބަލައި ފާސްކުރުމާއި ކަރަންޓީން ކުރުމުގެ ޕްރޮޓޮކޯލުގެ ސަބަބުން ކަނޑުކާނާގެ އުފެއްދުންތައް ބޭރުކުރަން ފަސޭހަވެ ކަނޑުކާނާގެ ވިޔަފާރި އިތުރަށް ފުޅާވެގެންދާނެއެވެ.

މިނިވަން ވިޔަފާރީގެ މި އެއްބަސްވުން ތަންފީޒުކުރަން ފެށުމަށް ރައީސް ޑރ. މުޙައްމަދު މުޢިއްޒު ގެންގުޅުއްވި ދުރުވިސްނުންފުޅަށާއި ރޭވުންތެރިކަމަށް ތައުރީފުކޮށް މަރުހަބާ ކިޔަމެވެ. މި އެއްބަސްވުމުގެ ސަބަބުން މަސްވެރި ސިނާއަތު ކުރިއަރުވައި ސިންދަފާތުކުރުމަށް ގިނަގުނަ ފުރުސަތުތައް ހުޅުވިގެން ދާނެއެވެ. މި އެއްބަސްވުން ތަންފީޒުކުރެވުމުން މަސްވެރިކަމުން ޖީޑީޕީއަށް ހިއްސާކުރާ މިންވަރު އިތުރުވެ ސީދާ މަސްވެރިޔާގެ ދިރިއުޅުމުގެ ފެންވަރު ރަނގަޅުވެގެން ދާނެއެވެ.

The Ministry of Fisheries and Ocean Resources welcomes the activation of the China-Maldives Free Trade Agreement (CMFTA). This FTA marks a significant milestone in the economic relations between the Maldives and China, paving the way for increased investments in fisheries and enhanced trade of fisheries products from the Maldives. The primary objectives of the CMFTA are to boost exports, reduce trade barriers, and create new opportunities for investment and businesses in both the Maldives and China.

Under this FTA, almost all fisheries products from the Maldives will be eligible for export to China at zero tariff rate, with facilitated re-export processes. This will provide Chinese businesses with improved access to seafood sourced from the Maldives. Furthermore, a protocol signed between the two governments on October 29, 2024, establishes inspection and quarantine requirements for Maldivian wild aquatic products, further strengthening the export of seafood products.

The Ministry extends its congratulations to President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, applauding his visionary efforts in activating the CMFTA. This agreement provides numerous opportunities for the advancement and diversification of the fisheries sector. The activation of the CMFTA marks a significant step forward in increasing the GDP contribution from the fisheries and ocean resources sector and improving the livelihoods of every fisherman.
