ކުޅުދުއްފުށި ސިޓީގައި "އަގު އެއްކުރި މަހުގެ އުފެއްދުން ތައްޔާރުކުރުމާއި ކުދި ވިޔަފާރި ހިންގާ ބެލެހެއްޓުމުގެ" ތަމްރީނު ޕްރޮގްރާމެއް ކުރިއަށް ގެންގޮސްފިިއެވެ.

މިތަމްރީން ޕްރޮގްރާމުގެ މަޤްޞަދުތަކަކީ މަސްވެރިކަމުގެ ޞިނާޢަތުގައި މަހާއި މަހުންތައްޔާރުކުރާ ބާވަތްތައް އިތުރުކޮށް މަތީއަގުލިބޭ ބާވަތްތައް އުފައްދައި ޖަމާއަތެއްގެ ގޮތުގައި އެބާވަތްތައް އަދި  މާކެޓްތަކަށް ބޭނުންވާ ގޮތަށް ވިޔަފާރީގެ އުޞޫލުން އަގުއެއްކުރި  މަހާއިމަހުގެ އު  އުފެއްދުންތައް ތައްޔާރުކޮށް އަޙުލުވެރިކުރުވުމެވެ.

މި ސެޝަންތައް ހިންގުނީ  މިމަހުގެ 2 އިން  - 6  ގެ ނިޔަލަށް ކުޅުދުއްފުށީ ސިޓީގައެވެ. މި ތަމްރީން ޕްރޮގްރާމް ކުރިއަށް ގެންދެވުނީ ކުޅުދުއްފުށީ ސިޓީ ކައުންސިލްގެ މާލީ އެހީތެރި ކަމާއެކުގައެވެ.  މިސެޝަންތަކުގައި  ގައި މަޢުލޫތު ދެއްވީ މި މިނިސްޓްރީގެ ޑެޕިޔުޓީ ޑިރެކްޓަރ ޖެނެރަލް އާދަމް މަނިކުއެވެ.

މިސެޝަނުގައި ޖުމްލަ 14 ބޭފުޅުން ބައިވެރިވިއެވެ. އެއީ 6 އަންހެން ބޭފުޅުންނާއި 8 ފިރިހެން ބޭފުޅުންނެވެ. މި ތަމްރީނުގައި، ޕްރޮގްރާމް ކުރިއަށް ގެންދެވުނީ ކުޅުދުއްފުށީ ސިޓީ ކައުންސިލްގެ މާލީ އެހީތެރި ކަމާއެކުގައެވެ.

The Ministry of Fisheries and Ocean Resources in collaboration with Kulhudhuffushi City Council, conducted a training programme on 'Value-Added Fish Processing and Small Business Management'.

The  training programme was conducted in Kulhudhuffushi City from 2nd to 6th February 2025.

The objective of the programme was to enhance value-added fish processing, develop high-value fish products, and equip participants with the necessary skills to prepare and market these commercially valuable products.

A total of 14 participants, including six women and eight men, took part in the training programme.

ޓްރާންސް ފޯމިން ފިޝަރީޒް ސެކްޓަރ މެނޭޖްމަންޓް އިން ސައުތު-ވެސްޓް އިންޑިއަން އޯޝަން ރީޖަން އެންޑް މޯލްޑިވްސް (ޓްރާންސްފޯމް) މަޝްރޫޢުގެ 2025 ވަނަ އަހަރުގެ ފުރަތަމަ ސްޓިއަރިން ކޮމިޓީގެ ބައްދަލުވުން މިއަދު ބާއްވައިފިއެވެ. މި މަޝްރޫއުއަކީ ވޯލްޑް ބޭންކުގެ އެހީތެރިކަމާއެކު ދިވެހިރާއްޖޭގެ މަސްވެރިކަމުގެ ދާއިރާ ތަރައްޤީކޮށް ކުރިއެރުވުމަށް ހިންގޭ މުހިންމު މަޝްރޫޢެކެވެ.

މަސްވެރިކަމާއި ކަނޑުގެ ވަސީލަތްތަކާ ބެހޭ ވުޒާރާގައި ބެއްވީ މި ބައްދަލުވުމުގައި މަޝްރޫޢުގެ މިހާތަނަށް ކުރެވިފައިވާ މަސައްކަތްތަކާއި، ކުރިއަށް ރޭވިފައިވާ ޙަރަކާތްތަކުގެ ތަފްޞީލީ މަޢުލޫމާތު ކޮމިޓީގެ މެންބަރުންނާ ހިއްސާކުރެވުނެވެ. އަދި 2025 ވަނަ އަހަރަށް ހުށަހެޅުނު ބަޖެޓް، ކޮމިޓީގެ މެންބަރުންގެ އިއްތިފާޤުން ވަނީ ފާސްކުރައްވާފައެވެ.

މި ބައްދަލުވުމުގައި މިނިސްޓަރު އަޙްމަދު ޝިޔާމް   އަރިހުގައި   މިނިސްޓްރީ އޮފް ފިނޭންސްގެ އިސް ބޭފުޅުންނާއި، މިމިނިސްޓްރީގެ މުވައްޒަފުންނާއި އިންޑަސްޓްރީގެ ބޭފުޅުން ބައިވެރިވެވަޑައިގެންނެވިއެވެ

The first Steering Committee meeting of 2025 for the Transforming Fisheries Sector Management in the South-West Indian Ocean Region and Maldives (TRANSFORM) Project was held today. This project, supported by World Bank assistance, aims to develop the Maldives' fisheries sector.

The meeting was focused on detailed information with committee members about the project's progress to date and planned activities. The 2025 budget proposed at the meeting was unanimously approved by committee members.

Minister Ahmed Shiyam was accompanied at the meeting by senior officials from the Ministry of Finance, ministry staff, and industry representatives.

މަސްވެރިކަމުގެ ސިނާޢަތް ކުރިއަރުވައި، އޭގެ ފައިދާ އިތުރުކުރުމަކީ ރައީސުލްޖުމްހޫރިއްޔާ ޑރ. މުޙައްމަދު މުޢިއްޒުގެ އެންމެ އިސް އަމާޒުތަކުގެ ތެރެއިން އެކެވެ. މި ދާއިރާއަށް މިހާރު ދިމާވެފައިވާ އެންމެ ބޮޑު ގޮންޖެހުމަކީ މަސް ޕްރޮސެސްކޮށް ރައްކާކުރުމަށް ބޭނުންވާ ވަސީލަތްތައް މަދުވުމެވެ.

ރައީސުލްޖުމްހޫރިއްޔާގެ ވަޢުދުފުޅާ އެއްގޮތަށް، މަސްވެރިކަމުގެ ސިނާޢަތު ކުރިއެރުވުމަށް ސަރުކާރުން ގިނަގުނަ މަސައްކަތްތަކެއް ކުރަމުން ގެންދެއެވެ. މިގޮތުން، ހއ. އިހަވަންދޫގައި މިއަދު އަޅާފައިވާ ބިންގަލަކީ ދިވެހިރާއްޖޭގެ މަސްވެރިކަމުގެ ސިނާޢަތް އައު ހަރުފަތަކަށް ގެންދިއުމުގެ ފެށުމެވެ. މިއީ އެންމެ ފަހުގެ ތާރީޚެއްގައި މަސްވެރިކަމުގެ ދާއިރާއިން ބޮޑުތިލަދުންމައްޗަށް ގެނެވުނު އެންމެ ބޮޑު ކުރިއެރުމެވެ. 

މިއަދު ހއ. އިހަވަންދޫގައި ބޭއްވުނު ރަސްމިއްޔާތުގައި، ހއ. އިހަވަންދޫ ފިޝަރީޒް ކޮމްޕްލެކްސްގެ ބިންގާ އަޅުއްވައިދެއްވީ މިނިސްޓަރ އަޙްމަދު ޝިޔާމް، މިފްކޯގެ ސީ.އީ.އޯ ޑރ. ވިތާލީ އަދި އިހަވަންދޫ ކައުންސިލުގެ ރައީސް ސަބާހެވެ.

ރައީސުލްޖުމްހޫރިއްޔާ ޑރ. މުޢިއްޒު، ހއ. އިހަވަންދޫ ރައްޔިތުންނާ ބައްދަލުކުރައްވައި ދެއްކެވި ވާހަކަފުޅުގައި، މަސްވެރިކަމުގެ ސިނާޢަތުގެ މުހިންމުކަމަށް އަލިއަޅުއްވާލެއްވިއެވެ. އަދި މިއަދު ބިންގާ އެޅުނު މި މަޝްރޫޢަކީ މުޅި ރާއްޖޭގައި މަސްވެރިކަން ތަރައްޤީކުރުމަށް ކުރެވެމުންދާ މަސައްކަތްތަކުގެ ތެރެއިން އެ ރަށުގައި ހިންގުމަށް ހަމަޖެހިފައިވާ މުހިންމު މަސައްކަތެއްކަމާއި، މިއީ އެމަނިކުފާނުގެ ވަޢުދުފުޅެއްކަން ފާހަގަކުރެއްވިއެވެ. އަދި މި މަޝްރޫޢުގެ އިދާރީ އަދި ފަންނީ މަސައްކަތްތަކާއެކު، މި މަޝްރޫޢުގެ ޢަމަލީ މަސައްކަތް މެއި މަހު ފެށިގެންދާނެކަމަށް ރައީސުލްޖުމްހޫރިއްޔާ ޑރ. މުޢިއްޒު ވިދާޅުވިއެވެ.

މި މަޝްރޫޢު ނިމުމާއެކީ 150 ހާ ވަޒީފާގެ ފުރުސަތު އުފެދި، ރަށުގެ އިޤްތިޞާދީ ދުވެލި އިތުރުވެގެންދާނެ ކަމަށް ވަނީ  ފާހަގަކުރައްވާފައެވެ. މެދުކެނޑުމެއްނެތި 18 މަސްދުވަހުގެ ތެރޭގައި މި މަޝްރޫއު، ނިންމާލެވޭނެކަމަށް ރައީސުލްޖުމްހޫރިއްޔާ، ޑރ. މުހައްމަދު މުޢިއްޒު ވިދާޅުވިއެވެ.

ބަނދަރާއެކު މި މަޝްރޫޢުގެ ޙަރަދުވާނެ، ޖުމްލަ އަގަކީ 474 މިލިއަން ދިވެހި ރުފިޔާއެވެ.

މި މަޝްރޫއުގައި ހިމެނެނީ:

1. 1000 ޓަނުގެ ކޯލްޑް ސްޓޯރޭޖެ

2. 50 ޓަނުގެ ބްރައިން ފްރީޒިންގ

3. ފެސިލިޓީއަށް ބޭނުންވާ އޮފީސް އިމާރަތް އަދި ގުދަން

4. 7 މީޓަރު ފުން  1000 މީޓަރުގެ ދިގުމިން ހުންނަ މަގަތު ފާލަން

5. ތިން ސަރަހައްދުން މަސްކިރޭ 4.5 މީޓަރު ފުން ފާލަން ޖެޓީއާއެކު

His Excellency, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, attended the groundbreaking ceremony of the Haa Alif, Ihavandhoo Fisheries Complex organised by the Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company Ltd (MIFCO).This initiative reflects the administration’s commitment to strengthening the fisheries sector.

Speaking at the ceremony, His Excellency President, Mohamed Muizzu emphasized the importance of the project, stating, "This development represents a major development for the fishing sector in the northern atolls." President also stated that the establishment and operationalization of the Fisheries Complex in H.A. Ihavandhoo will create 150 jobs and further develop the fishing sector.

Site construction is set to begin in May, with the facility expected to be completed within 18 months. The foundation stone was laid today by Fisheries Minister, Ahmed Shiyam, MIFCO CEO Dr. Vitaly Lubimov, and Ihavandhoo Council President Ahmed Sabah.

The fisheries complex, valued at MVR 474 million, is designed to provide infrastructure for fish processing and storage. The facility will include a 1,000-tonne cold storage capacity, a 50-tonne brine freezing capacity, administrative offices and warehouse facilities, a 1,000-metre jetty with a 7-metre depth, and three separate fish landing areas with 4.5-metre-deep jetties.

The Ministry held a meeting with the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) and the Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company Ltd (MIFCO), aimed at expediting the implementation of projects planned today. 

The meeting was chaired by State Minister, Mohamed Muthalib. Discussions focused on ensuring the efficient and effective completion of the projects, with an emphasis on collaboration and timely delivery.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Vitaliy Lyubimov, the CEO of MIFCO; Mohamed Jamsheed, the Deputy Manager of MTCC; and senior officials from the ministry, including State Ministers Dr. Amzath Ahmed and Aminath Hussain, And Director General Ahmed Yamin and Director General Dr. Hussain Sinan.

Minister Ahmed Shiyam held a productive meeting with Professor Paola Galli, a Marine Ecologist and Director of the MaRHE Centre at the University of Milano-Bicocca (UMB), to discuss strategic partnerships in marine research and capacity building.

The discussions focused on strengthening the technical capabilities within the Maldives' fisheries and ocean resource sectors through educational and research initiatives. The meeting highlighted the UMB's research outpost located at Faafu Magoodhoo, which serves as a critical platform for ongoing marine research.

Discussions centered on collaborative frameworks that would strengthen technical expertise and promote knowledge exchange between Maldivian institutions and international research centers.

Minister Ahmed Shiyam was accompanied by Permanent Secretary Dr. Aminath Shafia and Director Fathimath Fiuna during the meeting.

މި   ބައްދަލުވުން އިފްތިތާޙު ކޮށްދެއްވީ ވަޒީރު އަޙްމަދު އަޙްމަދު ޝިޔާމެވެ. ވަޒީރު ހާޒިރީންނާ މުޚާޠަބު ކުރައްވަމުން ވިދާޅުވީ، މިއަދު ފެށިގެންދާ މި ޕްރޮގްރާމުގެ ޒަމާނީ ޓެކްނޮލޮޖީއާއި އެންމެ ފަހުގެ އީޖާދުތަކުގެ ބޭނުންހިފައިގެން، މިހާރު ރާއްޖޭގައި ބޭނުންކުރަމުންދާ ކަނދުފަތީގެ ޑިޒައިން އިތުރަށް ތަރައްޤީކޮށް، އަދި ކަނދުފަތީގެ ބޭނުންހިފޭ މުއްދަތު އިތުރުކުރުން ކަމަށެވެ.  މި މަސައްކަތުގެ ސަބަބުން ކަނދުފަތި ޤާއިމުކުރުމަށް މިނިސްޓްރީން ކުރިއަށްގެންދާ ޕްރޮގްރާމަށް އިތުރު ކުރިއެރުންތަކެއް ލިބިގެންދާނެކަމަށް ވަޒީރު ފާހަގަކުރެއްވިއެވެ.

މީގެ އިތުރުން، މި ޕްރޮގްރާމަށް ފުޑް އެންޑް އެގްރިކަލްޗަރ އޯގަނައިޒޭޝަން (އެފް.އޭ.އޯ) އިން ވެދެއްވާފައިވާ ފަންނީ އެހީތެރިކަން ފާހަގަކުރައްވައި، ދިވެހި ސަރުކާރުގެ ނަމުގައި އެފް.އޭ.އޯ އަށް ޝުކުރު އަދާކުރެއްވިއެވެ.

މި  ބައްދަލުވުމުގައި ބައިވެރިވެވަޑައިގަތީ މިނިސްޓްރީގެ އިސްވެރިންނާއި ފަންނީ މުވައްޒަފުންގެ އިތުރުން، އެފް.އޭ.އޯގެ ފިޝަރީ އިންޑަސްޓްރީ އޮފިސަރ މިސްޓަރ ޖޮނަތަން ލަންސްލީ، މި ޕްރޮޖެކްޓްގެ އިންޓަނޭޝަނަލް ކޮންސަލްޓަންޓް މިސްޓަރ ނެޑް ހިލް، އަދި ލޯކަލް ކޮންސަލްޓަންޓް އަލްފާޟިލް ޢަލީ ނަޢީމެވެ. މީގެ އިތުރުން، މަސްވެރިންނާއި ކަމާ ގުޅުންހުރި އެހެނިހެން ފަރާތްތައްވެސް މި ބައްދަލުވުމުގައި ބައިވެރިވެވަޑައިގަތެވެ.

The Ministry of Fisheries and Ocean Resources, with aid from the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) under the FAO Technical Cooperation Program, conducted an inception workshop on January 20, 2025.

The program focused on improving Anchored Fish Aggregating Devices (aFADs) in the Maldives. This project aims to evaluate existing designs and create advanced prototypes to promote sustainable fisheries.

Minister Ahmed Shiyam inaugurated the workshop. Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Minister Shiyam highlighted that the program would leverage modern technology and innovations to further develop the current FAD designs and extend the lifespan of fish aggregating devices (aFADs) used in the Maldives. And stated, this program will bring further advancements to the Ministry's FAD deployment in the Maldives.

Furthermore, the Minister acknowledged the technical assistance provided by the FAO and expressed gratitude on behalf of the Maldivian government.

The workshop was attended by senior officials and technical staff from the Ministry, including FAO Fishery Industry Officer Mr. Jonathan Lansley, International Consultant Mr. Ned Hill, and Local Consultant Mr. Ali Naeem. Additionally, fishermen and other relevant stakeholders participated in the workshop.

The Ministry’s Project Management Unit has conducted information sessions in Meemu Atoll following the reopening of applications for the RSW Financing Facility.

The RSW Credit Facility now includes revised criteria for both operational fishing vessels and newly built fishing vessels nearing completion. These vessels will be eligible for the facility to procure RSW systems, generator sets, and Solar PV systems.

During the session, Project official, outlined the updated requirements for both operational fishing vessels and newly built vessels in the final stages of completion, for owners seeking the RSW Credit Financing Facility, along with the other benefits and features of the facility.

To apply for the RSW Financing Facility, operational fishing vessels must meet specific requirements. They must be constructed from fiberglass and registered as fishing vessels with a valid license issued by the Ministry of Fisheries and Ocean Resources. The vessels should be fully operational at the time of application, at least 50 feet in length, and have a minimum fish storage capacity of 10 tonnes, reduced from the previous requirement of 15 tonnes. Additionally, there must be sufficient space available on the vessel to install the necessary systems.

To apply for the RSW Financing Facility for new vessels, they must have a valid hull registry and be in the final stages of completion, with engine installation underway. The vessel must be at least 50 feet in length and have a minimum fish holding capacity of 10 tonnes, reduced from the previous requirement of 15 tonnes. Additionally, there must be sufficient space available on the vessel to install the necessary systems.

The RSW Financing Facility, supported by the Islamic Development Bank and the Lives and Livelihoods Fund (LLF), offers a repayment period of up to 10 years under the Islamic financing principle of Murabaha.

Minister Ahmed Shiyam met with the High-level technical delegation from the First Institute of Oceanography (FIO), Ministry of Natural Resources of China.

The Chinese delegation included esteemed researchers Mr. Yikai Feng, Mr. Weihong Zhang, and Ms. Yang Liu; Engineers Mr. Huayi Zhang and Ms. Xinmei Cui from FIO; and Mr. Chujin Liang, a researcher from the First Institute of Oceanography (SIO).

The discussions focused on fostering cooperation through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Maldives Marine Research Institute. This MoU aims to enhance collaboration in marine research and training, as well as to identify potential joint projects that could advance blue economy initiatives in the Maldives.

ވަޒީރު ވިދާޅުވީ ރާއްޖެއަށް އޯޝަން ޑެކޭޑާއި ޖީޑީއައި އިން ވެސް މަސްވެރި މުޖުތަމައުތައް ބާރުވެރިކޮށްދީ، ބަޔޯޑައިވަރސިޓީ ހިމާޔަތްކުރާ ހަމަހަމަ ކަނޑުގެ ދިރާސާ ސިޔާސަތުތަކަށް ވަކާލާތު ކުރުމުގެ ތަފާތު ފުރުސަތުތަކެއް ލިބިގެންދާކަމަށެވެ.

ގްލޯބަލް ޑިވެލޮޕްމަންޓް އިނިޝިއޭޓިވްގެ އުސޫލުތަކުން- އިނޮވޭޝަން، އިންކްލޫސިވިޓީ، އަދި ނަތީޖާއަށް ބިނާކޮށް އަމަލުކުރުމަށް ސަމާލުކަންދީގެން އޯޝަން ޑެކޭޑްގެ ލަނޑުދަނޑިތައް ހާސިލްކުރުމަށް ފުރިހަމަ އޮނިގަނޑެއް ހުށަހަޅައެވެ.

ވަޒީރު ވަނީ މާނަ ފުން އިބާރާތަކުން އަދުގެ ހާލަތު ސިފަކުރައްވާފައެވެ. އެގޮތުން "އަވަހަށް ދާން ބޭނުންނަމަ އެކަނި ދާށެވެ. ދުރަށް ދާން ބޭނުންނަމަ އެކުގައި ދާށެވެ." ވިދާޅުވެ ވަޒީރު ވިދާޅުވީ ދުނިޔެއަށްް ކުރިމަތިވާ ގޮންޖެހުންތަކަށް ހައްލު ހޯދުމަށް ޤައުމުތައް ގުޅިގެން މަސައްކަތްކުރަން ޖެހޭ ކަމަށެވެ. މިކަންކަމުގައި ޤައުމުތަކުގެ ވަސީލަތްތަކާއި، ތަޖުރިބާއާއި، ހިޔާލު ހިއްސާކުރުން މުހިއްމު ކަމަށެވެ.

Minister Ahmed Shiyam delivered a speech at the 3rd China-Indian Ocean Region Forum on Blue Economy Development Cooperation, highlighting the critical role of oceans and marine ecosystems in the Maldives' economy.

The Minister emphasized the importance of evidence-based science and innovative technology in addressing the environmental challenges faced by Small Island Developing States (SIDS). He stressed the necessity of global initiatives, such as China’s Global Development Initiative, to support SIDS like the Maldives in achieving sustainable development goals while ensuring the protection and restoration of oceans.

ރީފްސީޑް ޕްރޮޖެކްޓްގެ އަމަލީ މަސައްކަތްތައް ރާއްޖޭގައި ފެށުމުގެ ކުރިން އެމް.އެމް.އާރް.އައިގެ މުވައްޒަފުން ވަނީ 2024 ވަނަ އަހަރު، އޮސްޓްރޭލިއާގެ އެއިމްސްގެ ފެސިލީޓީގައި މުރަކަ ވިއްސާ އާލާކުރުމާއި ފަރުތައް އިޔާދަކުރުމުގެ ފަންނުތަށް އުނގެނި ރީފްސީޑް ސިސްޓަމް ބޭނުންކުރުމަށް ތަމްރީނުދެވިފައެވެ. "ރީސް ސީޑް ޑެމޮންސްޓްރޭޝަން ޑޭ" ގޮތުގައި ކ. މަނިޔަފުށީގައި ބޭއްވުމަށް ހަމަޖެހިފައިވާ ހަރަކާތުގައި، ފަރުތައް ހިމާޔަތްކޮށް އިޔާދަކުރުމުގެ މަސްލަހަތުވެރި ސަރުކާރުގެ އިދާރާތަކާއި ޖަމްއިއްޔާތަކުގެ ބޭފުޅުން ރީފްސީޑް ސިސްޓަމަށް އަހުލުވެރިކުރުވައި އަދި ކުރިއަށް ރޭވިފައިހުރި މަސައްކަތްތަކުގެ މަޢުލޫމާތު ދިނުން ހިމެނެއެވެ.

Minister Ahmed Shiyam officially inaugurated the Reef Seed Project activities during the Reef Seed Demonstration Day in the Maldives at K. Maniyafushi.  This initiative is a collaborative effort involving the Maldives Marine Research Institute, the Australian Institute of Marine Science, and the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), with funding provided by the Coral Research & Development Accelerator Platform (CORDAP).

Minister Ahmed Shiyam highlighted President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s strong commitment to fostering a research-focused society, which plays a key role in advancing sustainable marine conservation efforts.

Minister Ahmed Shiyam,  further emphasized that the future of our coral reefs lies in our hands, stating that the actions we take today will determine the health of our marine ecosystems tomorrow.

The Reef Seed Project represents a major milestone in reef restoration research and development within the Maldives. It clearly demonstrates the strength of international collaboration and a shared commitment to protecting marine environments for the benefit of future generations.

މީގެއިތުރުން  މިހާރު ދިމާވާ ދަތިތައް ހައްލުކޮށް، މަސްވެރިންނަށް އިތުބާރާއެކު ތެޔޮ ލިބޭނެ މަގު ފަހިކުރުމަށް ހިންގޭނެ މުހިންމު އިސްލާހުތަކާމެދު ދެފަރާތުން މަޝްވަރާކުރެއްވިއެވެ.

މި ބައްދަލުވުމުގައި، އަދި އެފް.އެސް.އެމް.އިން ރާވާފައިވާ ތަރައްޤީގެ މަޝްރޫޢުތަކާ ގުޅޭގޮތުން މަޝްވަރާކުރެވުނެވެ.

Minister Ahmed Shiyam held discussions with the Managing Director of Fuel Supplies Maldives Private Limited (FSM), Fathimath Ashan, to develop FSM facilities in Gaafu Alif Atoll, Kooddoo, and Lhaviyani Atoll, Felivaru, addressing the challenges in fuel supply faced by fishermen.

During the meeting, they reviewed FSM's  development efforts structured to enhance the fuel distribution infrastructure at these key locations. The discussions focused on strategic improvements to overcome current obstacles and ensure more reliable fuel access for fishermen.

Minister Ahmed Shiyam held a productive meeting with senior officials from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) headquarters. The meeting aimed to review the progress of the ongoing project designed to promote the Blue Economy within the fisheries sector.

Key initiatives under Blue Economy project focus on improving yellowfin tuna quality standards, upgrading bait tanks in current vessel designs to extend the longevity of bait, and advancing value-addition efforts in Raa, Maduvveri, Faafu, Nilandhoo, and Meemu Dhiggaru.

Minister Ahmed Shiyam expressed his gratitude to JICA and the Government of Japan for their longstanding partnership and continued support in developing the fisheries sector in the Maldives.

Minister Ahmed Shiyam was accompanied to the meeting by Minister of State Dr Amzath Ahmed, Minister of State Mohamed Muthalib, Permanent Secretary Dr Aminath Shafia, Director General Dr Hussain Sinan, Director General Adam Manik, and Director Mohamed Shimal.

މަސްވެރިންނަށް ދިމާވެފައިވާ އައިހުގެ މައްސަލަ ހައްލުކުރުމުގެ ގޮތުން ސަރުކާރުން ކުރަމުން އަންނަ މަސައްކަތްތަކުގެ ތެރެއިން ދ. ބަނޑިދޫގައި ޤާއިމުކުރުމަށް ބިންގާ އެޅުނު މި އައިސްޕްލާންޓަކީ ސަރުކާރުގެ ޕީ.އެސް.އައި.ޕީ ފަންޑުގެ ދަށުން ޤާއިމްކުރެވޭ އައިސް ޕްލާންޓެކެވެ.

މި އައިސްޕްލާންޓުން އެއްފަހަރާ 30 މެޓްރިކް ޓަނުގެ ޓިއުބު އައިސް އުފެއްދޭއިރު މި އައިސްޕްލާންޓުގައި 50 މެޓްރިކް ޓަނުގެ އަިސް ރައްކާކުރުމުގެ ކެޕޭސިޓީ ޤާއިމުކުރެވިގެން ދާނެއެވެ.

މި އައިސް ޕްލާންޓުގެ މަސައްކަތް 240 ދުވަސް ތެރޭގައި ނިންމޭނެކަމަށް ލަފާކުރެވެއެވެ.

The meeting, held at Paradise Island Resort, brings together key stakeholders and experts from Sri Lanka, India, Bangladesh, and the Maldives to bolster collaborative efforts in advancing sustainable fisheries management in the region.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Minister emphasised the importance of regional solidarity in tackling shared challenges such as Illegal, Unreported, and Unregulated (IUU) fishing, vessel monitoring and enforcement, and climate resilience in fisheries. He highlighted that the Indian Ocean is our home, and it is our collective responsibility to manage and protect its resources.

This meeting marks an important step in reinforcing regional cooperation and ensuring that small-scale fisheries remain resilient, productive, and sustainable.

މިނިސްޓަރ  އަހުމަދު ޝީޔަމް " ޓޫނާ ތިންކް ޓޭންކް"  2025 ފެށުން އިފްތިތާޙް ކޮށްދެއްވައިފި

Minister Shiyam inaugurated the Tuna Think Tank 2025, emphasising bold reforms to modernize the industry, expand processing capacity, and enhance sustainability.

Minister stated "Our tuna fishery is the gold standard for sustainability, but we must ensure it also delivers economic resilience for our people.” opening remarks

In addition, Minister stated the government's commitment to ensuring the fisheries industry remains the lifeblood of the nation. "For centuries, it has sustained our people, nourished our communities, and defined our identity,".

Minister Ahmed Shiyam also highlighted the establishment of five mariculture zones aimed at developing a sustainable, large-scale aquaculture industry. These zones will provide unparalleled opportunities for sustainable marine aquaculture and encourage foreign investment to accelerate the sector's growth."

Furthermore, Minister Shiyam stated “We are committed to strengthening the fisheries sector by establishing 300-tonne-per-day processing canneries across the Maldives. By introducing new canneries, expanding freezing capacity, and investing in renewable energy and innovation, we are shaping the future of sustainable fisheries in the Maldives”
