Training Programme on Financing Refrigerated Sea Water (RSW) Systems for Fishing Vessels - Addu City, Hithadhoo

A training workshop on financing Refrigerated Sea Water (RSW) systems was held in Hithadhoo, Addu City. The workshop, conducted with the support of the Addu City Council, aimed to enhance the technical skills of fishermen.
The training programme emphasised the technical competencies required for the installation and effective operation of RSW systems.
In addition to the system’s temperature requirements, important information was provided on pipe design, hygiene standards, and methods for resolving common problems encountered at sea.
The RSW project aims to introduce sustainable and energy‑efficient technology to fishing vessels. This system will enable vessels to achieve greater self‑sufficiency while ensuring the consistent maintenance of fish quality.
The establishment of seawater fish cooling systems, or RSW systems, on fishing vessels is a project implemented to improve the standard of living of stakeholders in the fisheries sector, with the support of the Lives and Livelihoods Fund (LLF) and the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB).
