Maldives participated in the 8th OACPS Ministers and Senior officials meeting - At Dar es Salaam, Tanzania

Maldives participated in the 8th Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS), ministers and senior officials meeting on Oceans, Inland Waters, and Fisheries in Dar es Salaam United Republic of Tanzania on September 9 -11, 2024

Dr. Hussain Sinan, Director General of Fisheries and Ocean Resources Management, highlighted the severe impact of climate change on small-scale fisheries and urged the OACPS to enhance climate data sharing for better mitigation and adaptation.

Maldives also addressed the challenges of developing a commercial aquaculture sector, particularly in achieving economies of scale, and stressed the need for targeted support for SIDS and the removal of trade barriers for small-scale fisheries.
