Minister Shiyam Inaugurates "Tuna Think Tank 2025" :Emphasises Sustainable Future in the Fisheries Sector.

Minister Shiyam inaugurated the Tuna Think Tank 2025, emphasising bold reforms to modernize the industry, expand processing capacity, and enhance sustainability.
Minister stated "Our tuna fishery is the gold standard for sustainability, but we must ensure it also delivers economic resilience for our people.” opening remarks
In addition, Minister stated the government's commitment to ensuring the fisheries industry remains the lifeblood of the nation. "For centuries, it has sustained our people, nourished our communities, and defined our identity,".
Minister Ahmed Shiyam also highlighted the establishment of five mariculture zones aimed at developing a sustainable, large-scale aquaculture industry. These zones will provide unparalleled opportunities for sustainable marine aquaculture and encourage foreign investment to accelerate the sector's growth."
Furthermore, Minister Shiyam stated “We are committed to strengthening the fisheries sector by establishing 300-tonne-per-day processing canneries across the Maldives. By introducing new canneries, expanding freezing capacity, and investing in renewable energy and innovation, we are shaping the future of sustainable fisheries in the Maldives”
