Delegation from the Sichuan Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs met with a Senior official of the Ministry

A delegation from the Sichuan Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs visited the Ministry of Fisheries and Ocean Resources to explore potential areas of collaboration under the China-Maldives Free Trade Agreement (CMFTA).

Sichuan is one of the most economically dynamic provinces in western China, with a GDP of approximately 7 trillion yuan. Its economy is strongly rooted in agriculture and aquaculture, making it a key player in China’s rural development and food production sectors.

The visiting delegation expressed keen interest in fostering cooperation in fisheries and aquaculture, particularly in areas such as modern fisheries technology transfer, capacity building, and knowledge exchange.

Both sides expressed appreciation for the strengthening ties between the Maldives and China, reaffirming the importance of ongoing collaboration through the CMFTA and other bilateral platforms.
