Agreement Signed Between MTCC and Ministry for Land Reclamation and Harbour Development to Facilitate Fish Processing Factory in Nilandhoo, Faafu Atoll

As part of his official visit to Faafu Nilandhoo, His Excellency President Dr Mohamed Muizzu met with the people and local communities. During the visit, the President witnessed the signing of the agreement between the Ministry of Fisheries and Ocean Resources and the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC).

The agreement provides for the development of infrastructure to support the establishment of a fish processing and canning factory in Faafu Nilandhoo.

The agreement was signed on behalf of the Ministry by Minister Ahmed Shiyam, and on behalf of MTCC by Chief Executive Officer Ahmed Saud. Under this project, MTCC has been assigned the work of land reclamation and harbour development to facilitate the fish processing factory.

This project forms an important part of the Government’s ongoing efforts to advance the Maldivian fisheries sector and to provide fishermen with access to markets at affordable prices to sell their catch, thereby strengthening the national fishing industry and supporting the livelihoods of local fishing communities.
