His Excellency President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has formally announced that construction of the cold storage facility planned for Th. Hirilandhoo is scheduled to start in January of the coming year. The announcement was made during the President’s ongoing tour of inhabited islands within Kolhumadulu Atoll, while addressing the residents of Hirilandhoo.

In his remarks, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu highlighted that Th. Hirilandhoo is an island where fishing and fishing-related activities are actively carried out. He stated that the government focus on supporting these sectors.

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu further stated that the development of the cold storage facility is consistent with the pledges made during his presidential campaign.

Furthermore, the President indicated that preparations are underway to present the cold storage project to the People’s Majlis. He noted that the initiative has been included in the upcoming budget, and construction is expected to begin following its approval.
