Minister Ahmed Shiyam Inaugurates Maldives First Commercial Seaweed Cultivation Project in B. Fehendhoo

Minister Ahmed Shiyam officially inaugurated the first commercial seaweed cultivation project in the Maldives, located in Baa Atoll Fehendhoo. As a part of efforts to implement President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's strategic policy to enhance economic diversification through marine resources and establish a profitable mariculture industry in Maldives.

The project aims to establish seaweed farming (cultivating and harvesting) as a commercial activity in the Maldives, focusing on sustainable practices while creating new employment opportunities for local communities.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by council members, local, community members, and State Minister and Senior officials, from the Ministry of Fisheries and Ocean Resources.
